I don't have a problem with how they have ran the show in general it's still a decent show just not as good as the first 5 seasons IMO. I quite like the lack of Aegon. That was my least favorite plot line from the book. I like that they have Tyrion doing what he's doing in Mereen. While it's hard to carry on all of the plot lines and characters as shown in the book D&D should have either left out certain things or gone all the way. Why are we supposed to care when the Dornish show up next week after not seeing them for nearly a season. People don't care about the Sand Snakes because they have been so woefully underdeveloped. 

 

They may know the general direction GRRM wants to take the story but they don't have exact scenes, dialogue and plot to pull from and I think that is showing in the predictable nature of things . I don't believe for a second that GRRM is going to have Bravos play out like it is on the show.

 

Meh, I am ranting. It's not like I am going to stop watching. It's a good show and I will be dissapointed after Sunday night because there will be no GoT for a year. Also, there will most assuredly be a major death next week. There has to be. Maybe Tommen, Cersei or both?

It was phenomenal.  Now it's just good. Dorne and Bravos are examples from why it's not phenomenal anymore.

Meh. To each his own. In fairness I didn't start reading the books until well into season three or four of when the show was running. There are long time fans though that have been reading this story since the 90s. It's not so bad. It's just some minor differences and changes. I'll give you another example. Jorah Mormont's character has been completely overplayed on the show compared to the book. If anything. Daenerys spends more time hooking up with Daario. And she spends a good portion of her time being advised by Sir Baristan Selmy. Selmy is one of the GREATEST swordsman that ever wielded a blade in recent history or memory in the world of Westeros. He's still alive in the books. It was pretty cheap to see him get killed by some petty "Sons of the Harpy" in the show. Especially because it broke his character whose always been full of great instinct and awareness. He could have lived longer instead of giving us more brainless filler with Jorah.

Always happens with stories on multiple forms of media.  Don't think it will ever change.  Someone will always be a bigger fan of the book/comic/musical/movie/show than the others and dislike them for coming up short of expectations.

So true.  Theatre of the mind is a personal experience.  When that extends from book form (and radio theater, when that was a thing) to other forms like film or tv... we are forced to see interpretations through the creativity and "minds eye" of the creator of those interpreted mediums.

 

It's rare someone else's vision ever completely matches your own.

I just watched last week's episode again and the battle scene reminded me of some other movies. Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, and 300 specifically. 

 

Tonight I am looking forward to Davos confronting the Red Witch about Shireen for sure. I almost don't care about Cersei except I want to see how it plays out in a real trial since trial by combat has been outlawed by Tommen. It will probably be a cliffhanger that will drive me nuts or a decision that will drive me nuts. Most likely both but in different storylines. I'm looking forward to it whatever it is.

The dad is Rhaegar Targaryen. The reason she was saying promise me to Ned is because if Robert Baratheon found out that the girl he was supposed to marry had a kid with his enemy then he would've wanted Jon dead. So Ned pretended Jon was his to keep him safe and literally told no one, not even his wife (which strained their relationship).


So technically Jon is a Targaryen.

Just watched it again. This is just a beautifully done episode. The transition from baby to Jon was perfect. This might be my favorite episode of the series. This director should do the rest of the episodes.

Loved it, I'm glad they didn't kill Melisandre, so I'm sure we'll be blessed with at least one more nude scene.

 

I wonder if Jamie is going to put Cersi's crazy [BLEEP] down the same way he did the Mad King.
