Willie Meggs to announce 2:00 pm whether charges will be filed against Jameis Winston

Quote:I didnt really spend much time reading over the facts due to a lack of interest however I was listening to Mike and Mike driving into work this morning and they had their legal expert on who followed the case.  I was caught off guard by his tone.  For starters he said this wasnt like the Duke Lacrosse case where the prosecutor came out and say yea those boys are innocent.  He said due to the delay and incompetence of the Tallahassee PD that there just wasnt enough evidence.  He was also very hostile towards the police regarding how the case was handled and evidence collected.  He seems to think that if some justice were to be done, that heads need to roll in the department.  He went off on one police officer in general.  He also didnt like the press conference yesterday saying how it seemed to be too light hearted and too many smirks for such a serious offense.

I guess the impression I got, mostly from reading this board which is probably my fault since Im sure there are a lot of pro-FSU, was that this was open and shut and she was lying.  However listening to the legal expert on Mike and Mike, that guy painted a very different picture.  This is why rape cases are so hard.  Its hard to prove the truth.  The girl, especially in a case like this, always gets her name slung through the mud and completely villified.  No shock that most rape cases go unreported.

As I said when this first broke out, TPD needs to be help accountable for the lapses in the investigation.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

If this is how the national media is thinking about this case, Jameis may have a hard time getting support for the Heisman.

I understand that its all about on the field, but we all know life isnt like that.

In his interview, did he mention at all how it was strange she blew a .1 yet doesn't remember a huge portion of the night? It sounds like it was very one sided. Did he present both sides?

I don't see Jameis losing the heisman at all. It's his.

I dont think he was presenting any side.  Just looking at it as an unbiased outside observer who has a strong legal background.  Now whether anything personally or professionally has happened to him that would cause him to gravitate towards a woman's side of the story, cloud his judgement, and create a somewhat biased look at any sexual assault case I cannot say.

I agree with rfc. I didnt watch the news conference, but now listening to sports talk today, legal expert guests did not indicate that the accuser was making it all up. They seemed to indicate the opposite.

I'd like to think some girl got gang raped? no, not me. if portraying me in that light makes you feel better about your own opinion then that is sad

GREAT POST !!!   .... that damn girl needs to be locked up !!   She totally hurts the credibility of the REAL VICTIMS of rape.

Then why didn't he present the facts on both sides?

They did a toxicology test on her. You do realize they test for other drugs other then alcohol right?

I just read the whole report. There is nothing in it that shows the girl should be locked up for anything. If you read it you'll realize that her version of the events and their version of what happened are pretty much the same (with slight differences) except they say it was consensual and she says it was rape.

The only thing that they (police) said was different was what she later told her friends that had happened...that she was hit over the head and couldn't remember. I'm sorry...but if I was raped the last thing I would want to do is go into embarrassing detail with my girlfriends.

And if you want to make a big deal about some of the story changing...how about the room mate that swore in his testimony that they busted in the room as a joke on Winston but later admitted to the police that he went in to join in the sex with the girl as had happened before when Winston had brought girls home? Not saying this means anything...just that now you have one of those "ironclad" witnesses admitting to lying in his sworn statement.

This just seems like one of those he said/she said cases that are impossible to prove either way...it doesn't sound like a girl hell bent on mucking up your boys life.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

is it possible that they gave her something that cant be detected?

and who is to say that the TPD didnt cover that up. i mean, there is alot more to this that could come out. not necessarily having to do with Winston

it sounds like this girl was having sex (consensual or not) with multiple guys at one time.... seems weird to me. im not one to stand up for a guy who would partake in such a thing. that's just my opinion.

So it basically boils down to her performing oral sex on Winston equaled rape, and a "polite" rapist by the way..
