At least three police officers killed by snipers during Dallas protest, chief says

Quote:It would seem you failed to include an image from one of the many segments of the police force that more align with the SWAT image previously posted.

Except the image posted previously wasn't a SWAT team. It was regular police forces in full military gear. Conversely this image isn't regular police, this is the Arrestatie Team (Arrest Team); highly trained personnel sent in specifically to deal with extremely dangerous criminals. They are used against specific persons and in specific situations where overwhelming force is required.

He saw no action to give him PTSD or make him go off the deep end unless a skill saw randomly attacked him. His combat training was limited to the occasional basic weapons qualification!

SWAT is an acronym for "Special Weapons and Tactics", and aren't regular police either, DF.  Someone can correct me, but I believe they are the equivalent of the Dutch "Arrest Team".

The image shown by flsprtsgod wasn't SWAT. Those were regular police in full camo gear responding to regular civilians, not hardened criminals. I responded in kind with what a proper riot squad should look like.

Except you would be wrong. That image was not of regular police. It was of a special interdiction unit that works alongside of SWAT or functions on their own "to deal with extremely dangerous criminals to apply overwhelming force". This is a typical "regular" police uniform.

And this is the Ferguson "police" responding to the riots:

I don't know where FSG got the image, but that's not what I'm used to seeing at gatherings of regular citizens, and I sure as hell don't think that's what the guys in Dallas were dressed like.

Riot police in this country tend to look a lot like riot police in other countries.  Just saw your Ferguson pic, but I believe Ferguson was a very special case that escalated beyond your average riot.  Gas masks?  If it gets to using tear gas, it's a special situation.

Again, not that I care.

Do the rest of the liberals here buy this spin?

What. The. Heck.

Amazing, isn't it. Those liberals are so kooky it's almost as if they are doing it on purpose to make people mad.

Let me boil down to the bedrock of my argument:

The police should never be the escalating factor in these situations. And right now the police forces in the US are at a point where their presence and actions are actively making things worse.

And yes, I know this is a Catch-22 because it's not like they can choose not to show up when there are riots but they can certainly choose to be non-confrontational. If anything, prior to the shootings, the Dallas PD showed they can be present and maintain order without escalating the situation.

Wrong again. That is the Tactical Operations Unit. Much like your police riot teams, ours are not armed because of the close proximity to large groups of people to include other police units.

I haven't scanned every post, but is there more than one person here saying the shooter wasn't picking targets based on race?

Ironically, it serves the same purpose as the orange hunter's vest.

LOL. It has no purpose but to identify the unit and team involved.

So you think the deployment of what is essentially a military unit against a civilian population is justified?

There are plenty of ways of identifying yourself without acting like you're in a war zone.

I think alot of black people think they are being targeted by police, and based on their life experiences, they have a valid point.

But this problem we have with police brutality, in my opinion, is more about class than it is about race.

Except, in most cases it's not police brutality and it certainly has nothing to do with race (with regards to how police interact with the population).  It's also not about "class" either.  It's a manufactured problem by mainly the left since they seem to be the ones that want to "classify" people into different groups.

We can't be "Americans" or "citizens" anymore according to the ideology of the left.  We must be "African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, LGBT", etc.

I've seen that similar sentiment expressed outside of this forum, so that's why I used the plural form of liberal.

I did ask the liberals here if they buy the spin Anchorman is pulling, and no liberals responded. That doesn't mean they agree with TA, but it would be reassuring if my question was answered.

Do you agree with the common (and my) belief that at least one of the killers in Dallas was racially motivated?

In some instances, yes there are valid reasons. Unfortunately there have been escalations beyond what a regular police force can handle. Are you insinuating that the Netherlands does not have similar units? Do you believe the US is the only country that has these units?

I don't think 509 dead people in 2016 and 990 dead people in 2016 is a manufactured problem.
