Dump Chad Henne

Quote:This.

Especially if we are making a playoff run and right in the thick of it.

LOL!

The next time the Jaguars play three games in a row against two teams with a combined 6 wins on their seasons we can start Henne and see if he can "make the magic happen."

Against anything other than teams about to fire their head coach starting Henne is a good way to lose your playoff spot.

I'd rather put Henne in the game instead of Allen right now.

If you think a 6th rd rookie gives you a better chance to win then you are an idiot.

Quote:Plus, it's up to the 3rd guy to earn his keep.  Earn the backup job and make the decision easy.

If they don't, you can't blindly cling to him in prayer that he'll eventually work out some day.

Can't think of any backup we've let go so far that should be here instead of Henne.

To be the man, you have to beat the man.  Even if that's just Chad Henne.
I agree with that.  Having Allen show promise in camp and preseason was of course part of the speculation.  I get the feeling the coaches are excited about Allen and think he can be a long-term #2 for the Jags.  Henne may need a great camp.

Quote:In case people have forgotten, Henne was the last QB to have a 3 game win streak for this franchise.

Henne having to starting for a few games wouldn't doom the season.

Thats easy to forget.. Was it ten years ago? Lol

I've noticed that once you stretch that tiny lil brain of yours around something, you're kind of like a pit bull.....

Show me the statistics where a 6th rd rookie is the primary backup. Good luck with that one.

Show some common sense and you won't be called an idiot.

Quote:Get rid of him... The Patriots prove year end and year out you dont need a 8 yr vet to be your backup... Chad Henne sucks anyway... So how much worst would a 6th rounder be?
The Patriots also have a guy named Tom Brady and they also drafted his backup in the 2nd round 2 years ago, who happens to be an extremely exciting prospect. Little different than drafting a guy in the 6th and expecting him to be a future star. Cant really cut a guy you drafted in the 2nd round. Where I will agree is I think Dave Caldwell sees potential in Allen, if he did not, I dont think the Jaguars would of actually wasted a draft pick on him. Do I think its enough potential to let go of one of the better backup QB's in the league when you finally have a chance to compete in the NFL? No, the risk is too big. Henne is a very reliable and capable backup, whether fans want to admit that or not. If Henne was cut, he would not have to last too long before we was snatched up. I think ideally, the Jaguars would want to practice squad Allen, but if he shows enough potential in training camp and pre season, then they may no choice but to waste a roster spot on him. One way or another, Allen will be given a fair chance and potentially one day, he could be the backup to Bortles.

When there was gabbert, Henne was the savior. Not there is Bortles. I would like ot see henne as the savior in some pinch situations- rumor is he can play.

I am saying as we saw Henne when there was Gabbert., let us not forget how we saw Henne even though we have Bortles.

Backup qbs also run the scout team irc so a rookie 6th rd qb will not know nfl defenses like a 10 year vet.

The scout team is usually run by the 3rd string or the practice squad QB.

The backup practices the offensive game plan so he is prepared to run the offense if the starter goes down.

The Jags see value in Henne doesn't mean he is good. Keeping him is one of many bad decisions this team has been making for years. As of now, no one for sure knows how Allen is. If he proved himself in the pre season, what is there to keep Henne?

One thing is for sure, you don't spend draft picks on guys you're expecting to cut. Henne's days were always numbered, but that signing bonus Dave gave him a few months ago might look especially wasteful pretty soon.
