Quote:Wow, you guys totally whiff the point. I'm not arguing whether the police/SWAT pulling someone over for the finger is legal or illegal. Its like youre dogs and a ball just flew by your head that you had to go chase. It's illegal for a cop to pull you over for the finger. Just don't be surprised if he gets behind you and waits until you violate a traffic law. Yep, because, as your little anecdote shows, the LEO mindset will use the punitive power of the law to avenge a personal slight. Disobedience and disrespect will be punished, by legal means if really necessary. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:So if there is a situation where police have guns drawn in the area that you are in, is your first instinct going to be to take out your cell phone and record video? Personally if it was me I would be getting the heck out of the area.Funny, I'd think you'd pull out your M-240 and join your brethren teaching those criminals some respect. I figure I'd record it since some poor black kid is about to get a lead infusion. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Disobedience and disrespect will be punished, by legal means if really necessary. Imagine that. What a novel idea that someone breaking the law suffer the consequences. If you don't like it, don't break the law after you give a cop the finger. I know the compulsion is to pick a fight with a cop so it'll hard to not forcibly break any laws in order to force your confrontation, but it is indeed possible to be a decent human being.

Yes, the law is your personal hammer. That's why you can't be trusted with it. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Yes, the law is your personal hammer. That's why you can't be trusted with it. If you don't like that police can ticket or arrest people who have broken the laws after picking a fight with a police officer, then maybe you should run for Congress. Until then, the rest of us will sleep well knowing that Darwinism still exists.

Quote:The more you talk the more your inner Authoritarian bares its ugly mug. Like I said, I'm a staunch Libertarian. I've voted Libertarian in every election that I have ever voted in. I also happen to believe in manners and common decency, which you obviously do not. You wouldn't be cool if groups of people came to wherever you worked every day and picked a fight with you and dared you to touch them and then when you called the police they just laughed at you and did nothing. Its really quite simple. Don't break laws, criminal. Quote:Like I said, I'm a staunch Libertarian. I've voted Libertarian in every election that I have ever voted in. Quote: I guess you caught me. I believe in obeying the law, therefore I must be authoritarian. Don't you have some Anarchy signs to graffiti, weed to smoke, and 9/11 conspiracy theories to salivate over? Quote:I guess you caught me. Yep, Conform or Die. Clearly your ideology is not Libertarian but Authoritarian Right. I believe in manners, I don't believe in cowering before the whip. I certainly don't believe small people of poor character should be given the authority of government. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

So hopefully you won't bother those small people of poor character if your home is broken into or car stolen. You guys probably shouldn't waste each others' time. How dare those fascist pigs try and enforce statues signed into law by those whom we voted for. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

How dare those fascist pigs try and enforce statues signed into law by those whom we voted for. Psst, maybe you should remember the point of this thread. Everyone who gets shot by the cops isn't a criminal. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:And the counter point - Not every cop who shoots someone is a small person of poor character. Granted. But why take the chance when it clearly has deadly consequences? As our Aussie friend would posit, better to outlaw assault cops. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
I'm British thanks! I'm just an immigrant, sorry I mean Expat as a White bloke.

Saying that Aussie police despite being armed shoot way less people. Do we just hire better here, or does a nation of gun owners lead to everyone being oppressed under the excuse that you may have a gun?
Quote:And the counter point - Not every cop who shoots someone is a small person of poor character. The difference between cops and criminals is we invest a lot of trust in cops because of the power they are given. The more forgivable we become with their behavior, i.e. they're human too, the more comfortable they become exhibiting that behavior. This is not to say we are pro criminal, just as a nation we understand the rights afforded to them as a citizen in the name of due process.
It's been a cool 2 months and I find it strange this story has disappeared off the face of the earth.
Still waiting on all the "facts" to come out.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.
