Quote:this isnt trolling by any means. Im not saying anything unfounded here, its the same conversation everyone has been having all offseason. Im just more pessimistic about it and apparently thats not allowed around here.

There is a difference between "I think our oline is going to be awful this year." and the topic you posted.

Our oline was really bad last season. It logically should be better this season.

Healthy Linder, Cann with some added experience, Parnell with a year in our system.

Joeckel may be better, maybe he won't. But he's an average player and if he winds up at guard its less of a liability.

Beachum is a nice upgrade but I'd rather them take caution so he is healthy towards the end of the season.

Pessimisim is one thing but using your brain to rationally think about things could really help you out.

In the grand scheme of things, Rome wasn't built in a day anyway. The defense should be night and day improved.

Things are clearly going the right direction.

I'm hoping that the team is more confident than I am in Beachum being ready and effective week 1. I thought we would look at making a move to bring someone in, but the staff must know something we don't know because they seem to believe he will be good to go. I hope so because we have absolutely nothing behind Beachum or Joekel. Really our depth on the entire offensive line is weak. I'm assuming it'll be next off seasons project.

I do think that this offensive line is going to be awful, again, this year.

The only upgrades over a historically bad offensive line have question marks.

Beachum is coming off an ACL.

We're replacing Beadles, who has played guard his entire life (and even made a pro-bowl once, ha) with Luke Joeckel, who has never played guard.

LG isn't an upgrade until proven otherwise.

Center was at least decent IMO last year - a healthy Linder should be an upgrade, but once again - we're having a guy who hasn't played Center in a long time (or for a long time) there.

I do feel confident that Cann and Parnell are a solid combination, but that's about it.

Quote:Beachum isnt consistently healthy enough to pencil in as a starter

Joeckel is a terrible tackle, maybe hes a better guard but even if he starts at guard then were between a not healthy beachum and Wells(god no). If hes not a guard Bernadeu is the other guy and he sucks too.

Linder is playing center for the first time

Cann and Parnell are average at best

The left side is going to be a mess unless beachum gets in and joke is good at guard. And the rest are going to have to be their absolute best. Blake is going to have a terrible time this year.

Everyone, to the Modis Building quickly!

Come on Chicken Little, when they get to the regular season, they'll be fine.  They won't be world beaters true but they won't be close to terrible.  Beach will be fine, Joeckel will play well at LG, Linder is our most talented lineman, Cann and Parnell are both above average.  Chill.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

we HOPE beach will be fine,

we don't know Joke will play well at LG - if anything I am more convinced he will not than at tackle.  At least he played tackle his entire career.

I do feel OK about C, RG, and RT...

and that is even without any injuries.  I don't think we have good depth at all.

If it stays healthy I think it has the potential to be ok, but it's definitely a injury or 2 away from being awful.

Luke has looked decent enough at LG so far.  He actually didn't play as badly at tackle as he gets accused of but his draft position comes with certain expectations.  Depth is a true issue but if this OL was in the top 10, we might be primed for a Superbowl run.  It's one of the reasons we're not.

I think you could say that about a lot of team's o-lines.

Center was decent? Wiz airmailed at least TWO snaps that directly led to opposing touchdowns. Not to mention two to three others that led to turnovers.

This. Offensive line play across the league is pretty bad. Even the Cowboys line struggled, and they are supposedly the best.

Just give me a running game, and I'll be happy.

Every Super Bowl winning team has had weaknesses. You game plan to minimize the weakness. That is on the coaches. There aren't many (if any) teams in the league that can say "Yea we are just pro bowl caliber studs at every position on the team." If we're stupid enough to leave Joeckel at LT on an island all game and Bortles gets sacked repeatedly that's on the coaches. You want to have confidence in the player but you have to face the music and adjust at some point... something this staff hasn't really shown yet.

No pain, no gain.

We're going to find out real quick about Luke when he is thrown straight into the fire against Mo Wilkerson and Leonard Williams tomorrow.

It'll be nice to see honestly. I think he will be OK at Guard, and by OK i mean average. We can tolerate average until we sure up the line next draft/FA.

any chance we can pick up a camp cut that could help us?

Beadles was pretty bad too, let's not forget that. One player I'll give TMD credit for calling out on how bad he would be.

I would happily take average from Luke tomorrow, with that matchup.

In Caldwell we trust. I'm sure they will mull over the possibilities as preseason progresses. I've grown tired of watching Shatley or Joeckel trying to block J.J. Watt twice a year.

No pain, no gain.
