Who stood out v. Jets?

#21

I have the game DVR'd to watch tonight after work.

But man, I gotta say...  Reading this thread is getting me really hyped.  It's just a pre-season game, so I'm not gonna get to high.  But It's nice to read such good reviews from our 1st pre-season game.

I wish more people felt like Blake looked good as well because as impressed we all are with allen robinson last night he didn't throw the ball to himself. It's like Blake gets so much slight around here as if we having a decent offense despite of him.

Just don't get too bummed when you see two blown assignments in a row and watch Fitz exploit them down the middle for big gains. Besides those 2 plays, the rest looked good.

WAY too many penalties though. We'll clean that up.

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Quote:Blake, ARob, Ivory, Jack and Lee. Others as well.

- Myers has the leg but not consistent accuracy

- Special teams coverage was pathetic

- Too many penalties even for pre-season

- Henne isn't a #2 imo

How do you get this conclusion about Myers from last nights game, he didn't miss.

I like the way Blake looked so comfortable back there. He also should have had a TD pass but Julius Thomas ruined that.

What i didnt like was the lack of pass rush. I know it was the first game but this was always a nagging problem.

He didn't miss but he cut it close on a couple of gimmies, hooking it to the left.

And also not kicking the football to the back of the end zone.

The offense is looking incredible. Had butterfingers Thomas not dropped the ball Blake would've went 7/7 110 1TD. His control of the offense looks amazing. He looks in total control, making some good audibles, identifying the mike and his cadence looked incredible. Ivory runs HARD! No wonder BB5 calls him a ball of muscle. I would hate to have to tackle that guy. Yeldon was also looking a lot better out there making some great cuts and making guys miss. I feel we're trying to emulate the Panthers of old ( D'angelo Williams & Jonathan Stewart combo) and I really feel we can do it

One guy I feel like isn't getting enough praise for everything he's been through, is Joeckel. He made some key blocks out there and held up really well. I wish I could've seen a little guard play from him, but honestly, anything is better than Shatley.

Pretty sure that was by design after the touchback change.

Ooh, Mrs. B sure don't play

Leopold, my mate, you know I stalk you.  Please don't take this the wrong way, all in jest, we are family.  But when I read some of your takes, all I want to say is ooh, Mrs. B don't play ; ).  Fret not mate, the compliments will come.  Don't go fishing for em, allow others to get their butts slapped too.

To me, Bortles was the main star last night.  He field marshaled the heck out of those 2 series.  I was thoroughly impressed and pray it becomes a lengthy trend.

Success is a journey, not a destination.  Go all out Mighty Jaguars.

And we marched down the field on their [BAD WORD REMOVED] on that first series, what's your point?

I hope you aren't criticizing that they weren't kicking it to the back of the end zone.

Do you even football?

Well, I've promised myself to give the season 4 games before I decide whether I go apocalyptic or not.

These preseason games are great to get a gauge on our rookies on for me. As long as there are no injuries, I'm good.

I don't know if anyone saw it but one play Fowler came off the snap and just pushed the daylights out of the Jets OT. I mean the OT was just pushed on his heels. "I was like my God. That boy is powerful. Definitely not tryna take a punch from him."

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Quote:Grants performance pretty much sums up what we already knew about him. Goes 0-60 instantly, can't block or run through contact.

The unfounded idea that he was close to ousting Shoelace for the # 3 spot was put to rest, at least for now.  Grant is not remotely close to being a complete RB.  I shudder to think of him carrying the load in the event of injuries to those ahead of him. Wiggle and vision like Yeldon, no.  Power and purpose like Ivory, no.  Grit and toughness like DRob, no. 1 spot just for kickoff return is hella pricey to me.  I can't see him gracing the field much otherwise.  Need occasional speed to go over the top? Albino, if in the premises, much obliges.  Need a quicker change of pace guy on the ground that'll get you consistent positive yardage? D Rob suffices.

It's not like he's dreadful, I just don't see a complimentary trait to the speed that one can hang their hat on.  Thus far...

I agree that Myles Jack played a nice game. He is physical and basically looking to really stick someone every play. He was all over the place. I'm loving his progress.

And yeah.. Those kickoffs were kicked short by design to see our ST unit. They need work.

Great game. The offense looked unstoppable. Should have been 2 drives and 2 TDs.

Love that this team actually has talent all around now. Compare our starting 2013 Defense to our current backups:

DE - Babin      vs     Ngakoue

DT - Marks      vs     Marks

NT - Miller       vs     Jones

DE - Alualu     vs      Alualu

OLB - Hayes   vs     Tripp

MLB - Poz       vs     Jack

OLB - Allen     vs     Davis

CB - Ball         vs     Amukamara

FS -  Evans    vs     Thompson

SS - Cyprien  vs      Sample

CB - Gratz     vs      Colvin

That is pretty dang telling.  I think I would take are backups today over that group

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine
