Who stood out v. Jets?
|
Offense -
Bortles to Arob looks unstoppable. Yeldon and Ivory are also going to make a nice combo. We have great WR depth as well. TE should be solid Bowman looked good in the move TE flat role and JT did have a drop but overall looked extremely athletic. THe o-line looked good in the running game vs a fairly stout jets starting unit and pass protection was somewhere between meh and average for the starters. We do severly lack any kind of depth there though as the backup units we really bad. Joeckel actually had a key block on the ivory TD he really moved his man and showed some strength i didnt think he had on a couple other blocks as well. Shoutouts : Lee looked feisty and made a really nice "go get it" catch over a defender. Drob looked good and showed some good vision as well as toughness. Defense Starting unit really needs Gipson back there as we were gashed on big plays back to back right where he would have been. Fowler looked a bit lost but did make a couple good run stops. Yannick beat his man for a nice sack and Malik Jackson appears to be money well spent. In the secondary we are seeing more of the blitzes from late last year and its working quite well. Amukamara wasnt tested which is a good sign. Cyp didnt have any glaring misses and actually seemed to do well in the box from a coverage standpoint. At LB Telvin made a couple plays but also seemed to fall for a play fake too. The big deal was Jack who seemed to start a bit out of sync but quickly made his presence felt. Multiple big hits , a nice run stop and he made a WR alligator arm a pass so we saw some of that intimidation factor. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote: LULZ xD. Considering he is a 6th rounder and the offensive line barely gave the guy a second to throw, I thought he did well. Quote:LULZ xD. The #1 offense was awesome. This is the first time in awhile that the offense made it look easy in preseason... always seems like we struggle. The two headed monster we have in the backfield is going to be fun to watch. Ivory and Yeldon are perfect compliments to each other, and I thought Yeldon looked improve. A.Robinson =BEAST. Lee looked good. Bortles looked great, minus that one throw to Thomas (JT still should've caught that though ).
The #1 defense will give up some big plays here and there. They need time to gel together, trust each other. The talent is there though... Telvin was all over the place. And when Smith went out, Jack took his place... he was always around the ball it seemed. I think Jack will become our next Mike Peterson, with better coverage ability. Special teams was bad, but I think once the regular season starts, there won't be gaping holes. With the improvement of the defensive side of the ball, the talent on special teams has improved as well. The punters did great. Meyers made all of his kicks, but he squeaked by on a couple kicks... makes me nervous everytime he lines up. His very last kick was perfect though.

I have to say, I thought Brandon Allen did ok.. I think there's potential there.
All considered, decent performance last night. Bortles, ARob, Yeldon, Ngakoue & Ivory all stood out (amongst many more). Also, how comical was it when Henne tried to run on 3rd & 24?! ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics...
This is based on the first half,
1. Chris Reed was outstanding at LG. He consistently moved his man backwards. Grade - A 2. Yannick looked much better than the scrimmage. Still not impressed with his run defense. Grade - C 3. The ref. I learned it is not a penalty when you hurl dudes at your punter.
Brandon Allen played well considering the o-line was swiss cheese. He got a drive into the red zone and made a rookie mistake.
You gotta remember that the third string o-line was on the field, these guys and backing up the backups of the worst unit in the team. Some teams have decent backup o-lines, we do not. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Brandon Allen played well considering the o-line was swiss cheese. He got a drive into the red zone and made a rookie mistake. Agreed, plus he's learning from BB5 who is starting to become one hell of a QB. This can only be a good thing. ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics...
Vet standouts: Bortles, Jackson, (and of course Robinson... wow)
Rookie standouts: Jack, Yannick Stood out in a bad way: McCray, Telvin If Allen continues to work well I can see us carrying 3. Jets: Leonard Williams had a few moments. Geno Smith... just lol

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
A couple of things that stood out to me. Fowler looks even bigger and more physical than I thought he was. To be that quick is amazing but with that said, I don't think he had a great game but he's still learning. In a lot of ways he's still a rookie. The OL played reasonably although I thought Shatley had a few times where he got whipped pretty bad. Jack is *fast*, really fast but he looked like he got confused a couple of times. It'll come. A-Rob, what can you say? At the rate he's improving he'll be the best WR in the league in the next year or two. I'd already put him in the top 5, he's basically unstoppable. Blake's command of the offense is growing, he'll really have a big year I think. Ivory is a more powerful runner than I thought and TJ looks like he's on a mission.
Ok, deep breath, I know it's only preseason. ![]()
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

The entire offense stood out to me even though the OL was pieced together. BB5 has a Lock on the offensive scheme as evidenced by his audibaling. The running game is on point and will be Much Better when the True starters are in place. AR15... Sickening He Is. Marquise Lee... When/If healthy, he's a Trouble Maker... Joeckel has presented an delima for the decision makers. The offense wanted to start fast and start fast they did.
Ohhh Yeah... Brandon Allen should/must be our back up QB. I know that Henne has somewhat been valuable to BB5's progression but it's time to Cut The Ambilicle Cord. Henne didn't move the offense at all in My Opinion... Defensively... Fowler Jr. showed tremendous promise in his first NFL game. M. Jackson showed tremendous leadership as he coached Fowler throughout the time period. Yannick is just that. Unique. His sack was derivative of what's to come. MILES JACK... I didn't like his tackling technique BUT this young man will demand respect w/respect to finding a way for him being on the field regardless of Posluszny's presence and this is where I stop due to the fact that I could go on and on and on... NH3...

Quote: I didn't like his tackling technique Me, either. He's got a little db throw-your-body-at-the-guy in him at times. But other times, not. I was so impressed with him otherwise I didn't bother fixating on it.

Our offense could be elite IF the offensive line comes together. So many weapons and if Lee and Thomas stay healthy defenses will have a very tough time containing them.
The defense has a way to go. Gipson will make a big difference, as will Ramsay, but it will probably take close to half the season before they start to show what they're capable of. No doubt the talent is there and I expect them to be top 5 next season. Fans need to be patient with them as they face Rodgers, Rivers and Flacco. Take the over in most of their games this season.

Not too worried about it though, technique can be worked on. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Me, either.
