I pretty much agree with you but cutting down to 75 isn't that hard. The people getting cut won't make the practice squad or get picked up by another team.

You might see one or two make the PS among those cut. There's a tactic often employed by GMs where they cut guys in the first round in order to sort of hide them. If it's a guy, like say, Jamal Robinson that you really want on the PS but you know he won't make the 53-man roster... you might want to cut him early, because if you wait until the second round to do it teams will be taking a closer look at him wondering why you waited so long.
