Who is our QB next year?
|
Bortles worries me because outside of this board, I hadn't heard any talk of him before this week. If you google him, you get more pics of his girlfriend than of him. And now suddenly he's getting more hype. I almost think if he comes out, he won't be as good because he'll be coming out when he knows he can get a 1st round pick (though I certainly couldn't blame him)
Quote:Gabbert he is still under contract, trade back collect picks fill spots we need DL center OG CB LB then maybe go 9-7 next year. trade all your picks for winston Yeah, cause Winston is guaranteed to declare next year. And the top team is guaranteed to want to trade if he's as good as they think he'll be.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Who knows - maybe those guys end up passing Bridgewater when all is said and done. This time last year no one would have expected EJ Manuel to pass Geno Smith to be a top 20 pick and the first QB taken. Actually I remember Mike Mayock keep saying that Ej Manuel was going to be the first Qb taken after his performance at the senior bowl, and he kept saying it every chance he could, He just didn't think it was going to be the bills that did it. ![]()
Loved the Clowney/Barr in the first then Bortles in the 2nd. Barr as the LEO could be scary good for this team. Not sure how I feel about Bortles but I don't care who the QB is as long as they get the job done.
We need a playmaking TE, Oline help and linebacker help. The most important thing here is hitting on 60% of our picks in the next draft no matter what position we are picking.
If Bortles does opt to come out, he won't last beyond the first round, possibly even the top 15.

So DE/LB in the 1st (*Clowney*) Mettenberger/Murray/McCarron in the 2nd? I could live with this Quote:So DE/LB in the 1st (*Clowney*)That's where the value seems to be at if we get like a #5 or #6 pick.
I think if bortles comes out, has a strong bowl game, and a good combine, we'll be in a good spot to get him. otherwise At that range, I wouldn't mind trading back to the middle or end of the first and taking a defensive player since barr and clownely will probably be off the board, and pick up a LB/DE/DT

I like the idea of getting Clowney/Barr for our first pick then trading back up to the first round to get Carr/Bortles/ or maybe Hundley

Do what Seattle did, sign a FA qb and draft one in the 2nd/3rd rd. This draft has some depth at the QB position. We don't have to reach in this draft.

Why has Bortles been ignored until now? That's what concerns me. If he's available in the 2nd Round, I think that'd be fine. But I'm not sure he comes out unless he's expected to be a 1st rounder.

People are coming out of the woodwork now beacuse it's the end of college season so the new distractions start up. Think of all the QB's that showed up last year that no one had even heard talked about until the draft season and the combine rolled around. As soon as the senior bowl hits we'll end up seeing even more Qbs that people didn't talk about. If you want an idea on all the Qb's that might come out go to a mockdraft website and just look at the Qb rankings and it gives you an idea of all the seniors coming out that no one talks about either.
IMO at least people started noticing him before the end of the season and not just right before the combine. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:Most analysts were speculating that he would stay in school. Some still are. True, but I think the sudden surge in discussion feels like "We need someone new to speculate about." I've seen him compared to Andrew Luck. If he's that good, then yeah definitely would love to have him. But I just wonder why he's been ignored for this long if he has that type of talent. I don't care if you play for UCF or Erskine (which is no longer a college football school, but I like saying Erskine and it just sounds obscure) if you're that good I'd think analysts would be talking about you even if you were talking about declaring.

Quote:Carr or McCarron. Or Matt Flynn... :woot:Sir, Please, No.... I asked Kodiak to do a scouting report on Bortles for his bowl game or another game so we can get an idea, compared to the rest of the people he's done this for, what we might be able to expect. As for carr, After watching last night, he'd literally have to go to a team that had a great passblocking line because he had A LOT of trouble with the blitz last night, and I remember watching and saying that he could have just walked up the pocket and had all day but on several occassions failed to do so. So He just seems like another above average prospect but nothing to write home about. ![]() |
