Quote:Kelvin Beachum in full pads! I'm still pretty convinced they are just going extremely slow with Beachum and he'll be good come September. They said they had a plan since the offseason and are just sticking to it regardless.

Dudes 10 months removed from the tear. 10 month of not being able to properly train your body like you should because a majority of the focus is spent on rehabbing the knee. It's not unreasonable to think that he's not going to be fully ready till the start of the season, if not a couple games in.
Beachum has that low center of gravity that makes me think he's not easily moved. He's supposed to also have quick feet, but coming off the ACL both his quickness and his ability to set himself are still in question. Let's hope this works out for both Beachum and the Jags.

I just tend to think it will take a 300 pound lineman more than 10 friggin months to fully recover from a knee tear. Hopefully I'm wrong, and hopefully they don't rush him back either. The line looks like crap without him, but we need him down the stretch more than we do in September.

Quote:It really didn't look that bad VS Jests. I agree, but 4 full quarters for 16 weeks is a lot more demanding on the knees than a dozen preseason game reps. I think he'll get back to full strength at some point this season, I just think it would be better to sit him for a few more weeks if they think he needs it, even if he in all likelihood could start week 1 and be serviceable. Idk, maybe I'm still stuck in the days where it took up to 2 years to heal an ACL tear, but I just can't buy a 300 lb lineman being ready to go 10 months after tearing his knee. Hope I'm wrong.

It's significantly faster recovery than it used to be. Marks is over 300 pounds, tore his in late December and was coming back into form in October then he tore his triceps in Nov. So about 10 months and he was back out there. You could argue DL has a little more stress on the knees than OL as well, though maybe not for the OT spot. I think it's expected Beachum will have some soreness when/after playing, and will probably be rested a lot between games the first couple weeks. But I'm still confident he'll be out there against GB.

Lol fresh off nights i almost thought it said dante fowler i was like NOOOOOOO
The big difference between an OT and a DT recovering from an ACL is how they play. marks for example always is going forward pretty much, whereas Beachum has to go backwards and absorb another 300 lbs of someone pushing (bull rushing) for example which is a totally different type of load on the knee.
Either way, I think I would be satisfied if he plays well for 10+ games this year and shows that he can be that guy for us long term.
