Jack with the first team

Quote:But nobody would know that because everyone talks about Carolina's linebackers.

For good reason considering they were a key part of Carolina getting to the Super Bowl.

Even though it's a pre-season game,  the National TV exposure for the Jags LB corp should help them get at least some additional recognition.   But unless the Jags have one or more games flexed to SNF this season,   the overall lack of National TV games for the Jags is going to slow down the recognition process.

I wonder if Myles, after a sack, says, "YOU JUST HOT JACKED!"

One sign of progress is our TNF game on NFL Network will be in Week 8 - the earliest ever for Jacksonville. A new TV deal has that game also being broadcast on CBS and NBC because of that. In the past they always scheduled our TNF game late in the season and only people with NFL Network could watch it.

You never know, we actually might get flexed to SNF - most likely for the Broncos game on December 4.

It will be a good move to let Jack play a decent amount of time with the starters on Sunday.

Wash and Bradley added yesterday that they are making him learn an incredible amount of stuff and info because of the MLB position (and both pointed out that's a really tough position to learn for a rookie) and that the game is finally starting to slow down for him.

And as Wash said Jack's athletic abilities are unmatched so once he's learned everything he needs toand to put him into the line up he will make a huge leap performance wise.

Making him go with the starters who are supposed to know the defense better should help him.

Wash also added that they like Skuta at the Otto position so they'll see what to do and how to line up at LB once Jack has fully learned to run the defense from the MLB position, they are open to every solution once that happens.

I'm really glad Jack is learning MLB.   Last time Poz went out with an injury, we really suffered on defense.

Even if Jack is our backup MLB, I'm sure we will find ways to get him on the field a lot this year, so I'm not worried about getting him on the field.

Right now, what I see from Jack is a lot of ability but also a lot of confusion in coverage.   He needs the reps badly.

Quote:The SAM in this defense is the Otto. A position for a pass rushing LB like Bruce Irvin. Jack can blitz but is no pass rusher.

This can't be said enough either. The reason for Jack at MLB has a lot to do with his coverage ability. The Otto basically plays away from all of his strengths
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I'd wager we see Jack get some 3rd down and nickel work with the ones Sunday night.

Excited to see that.

No clue why so many are still clinging to this "Jack at SAM" idea.   It's not gonna' happen unless Skuta gets hurt or seriously underperforms.

Learning the middle and playing passing sets is a great start for Myles. He'll be able to make an impact.

I think he shines with the ones. Dude is gonna be the best player out of this draft. All pro!

I agree with all that.

I thought that before when they were both drafted but then I saw Ramsey in his first pre-season and Jack being behind the 8 ball a bit. Once he gets more reps he'll be fine, but he's definitely behind Ramsey, IMO.

Quote:I wonder why we aren't testing Jack at OLB at all. I'd love to see him with Telvin and Poz
They prob dont want to over load him, ILB is an important position and he needs to learn that first, once he gets that he will prob get more reps at OLB

Usually preseason is when players are cross-trained or learn new positions. I thought this was a good time to teach Myles Jack both the Mike and Sam/Otto jobs.

The coaches have made comments about not wanting to give rookies too much to absorb in year one. They made reference to Bortles and Denard Robinson as examples that had too much to learn in year one and suffered as a result.

I think they'd rather see him play fast situationally and understand making the defensive calls from the middle than trying to learn two positions.

Learning the other LB spots will be easy when he has absorbed learning the Mike spot.  Poszlusny may not be here next year also, so they want him to shadow that guy while he has the chance.

I think Bortles had to learn too much too fast because coaches realized after only two games they can't survive with Chad Henne all season. The team wanted to let him learn from the bench all season.

Denard Robinson needed to learn what position he should play in the NFL before he could spend most of his time in the running backs room.

I don't see Poz being cut just because we drafted Jack.
