Gus needs to go immediately

All these nice new pieces on offense and defense, and they don't make a lick of difference because they're not being coached up..

Belichick could coach this team from his couch with a flip phone and get better results than bobblehead Gus

What some people don't understand is that people aren't calling for Gus' head because of one game against a top NFL team. This isn't a knee jerk reaction. This is now a body of work.

How much more of it do you have to see before realizing it isn't going to change? That is the definition of insanity.

On one hand, I remember teams like the 2008 Lions dominating in the preseason and going 4-0 and say, it is preseason and many times not a reliable indicator of regular season performance.

On the other hand, I remember our 2008 squad getting manhandled by the Dolphins and even John Clayton asked what was wrong in preseason. And many people said don't worry, but in hindsight it was indeed a portent of the problems that would plague the team that year.

So honestly, not sure what to think. I will say it's concerning, and I will also say you don't fire a coach over preseason. I don't think even the worst front office (c.f. Browns) has done that. We'd literally be the laughing stock for the league for years to come. This regular season is Gus' last chance whether you think he deserved it or not

Quote:So let me understand this. The first team Jags played nearly as horribly as they possibly coudl during the first half against a team that many people around the nation think is a Super Bowl Contender. Yet given how horribly they played that half, they were only down 14-3.

And even that could have easily been 10-7, if they do not commit two dumb penalties (idiotic pass interference and reported the referees). Sure it wasn't pretty at all, but that is still in the game and not an insurmountable deficit. Consider how last year's team may have been down by 21 or 28 by halftime to team as good as the Bengals are supposed to be this year, especially given they are healthy.

On top of all that, this is a preseason game that did not count. I'm willing to bet Roy Miller would have played if it were regular season. The Jags only play 4 teams all season with realistic aspirations of deep playoff runs (Packer, Chiefs, Broncos, & Vikings) and most of those teams are more flaws/holes than the Bengals. Even if they bomb those 4 games and play well in the other 12 games, they will get to the playoffs.

Do they need to fix things? Of course.

Is it the end of the world? No.

Does firing Gus Bradley now solve anything? Absolutely not. It would just means Olsen or Wash steps in, and it would still be the same systems and players, just a different mentality from the HC. Given that Gus has in no way lost the team, why start that now?

NO!!!!   We need to PANIC!  We need to Fire everyone.   We lost a preseason game!!!!    Disband the team!!!!   This board never ceases to amaze me.

This is everyone's reaction now vs their reaction when we get the first W on the board.

the 3rd preseason game is the one where they actually have a gameplan for the starters.  so that doesn't bode well considering we were severely outcoached.  Bengals seemingly had the perfect call for everything we did.

When was the last time the defense snuffed out a screen pass?

So true, we suck at defending the screen.

A little early to call for heads.... Even though they did look lost and my original perception of the team has lessened, there's no need to call for anybody's head now. It would do nothing good. He's got this whole year to prove he deserves to be here. If we have another 5-6 win season, I think he's gone.

GO JAGS!!

Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!
