Final cuts have started

Quote:Sucks Ryan Davis got cut, hope he gets signed and balls out for another team.

He will, and he will.

Linebacker. Not bad at it either.

Since you mentioned it, wonder if his reps at fullback is a reason why the seem to be keeping him? Split the time when they call for one with Alualu.

With all these surprise defensive cuts, I take it they are going to keep 9 OLS and 50 players on the offense.

Watch the Patriots pick up Ryan Davis.

TJ Barnes was cut

He's a LB. He had a pick 6 against Cincy

Quote:@HaysCarlyon Ryan Davis clinched 2 wins in 2013 (both vs. Texans). That accounts for a sixth of Bradley's 12 wins. #Jaguars cut him today.

Davis never really did stand out after moving to OTTO, so I get that. Holmes showed potential, but they probably figure he's safe to make the PS, and I get that too. But keeping Chris Smith over Tripp? I don't get that. Chris Smith is just about the most underwhelming DL I've seen after Alualu.

LOL @ people hyping up these below average players.  Mark my words, Holmes or Davis will not be starting for any NFL team this year.

I meant which of the three LB positions.

The illegal man downfield penalty made me wonder why Pullard got #52 now that 40s are allowed for linebackers.

Is there anyone else that tastes the bile after thinking this?

I'm disappointed they didn't keep Tripp but I don't think it was an either/or situation with Smith, they play different positions.  I see a lot of potential in Smith even though he's taken a little longer to learn his craft then you'd hope.  He's never going to be an all-star but neither was Tripp frankly.

Davis was not going to be a starter in Jacksonville either. Nobody is hyping him up as a starter quality player.

Maybe the "either/or" was for financial reasons.

Holmes probably to PS.

Davis may get a look from Dallas.

Maybe, I dunno but I'd suspect they're both pretty manageable from a salary perspective.

So seems like we're in between "waves" of cuts right now. Haven't had a new name in a bit

In trying to get a count, I see we did sign a player to get back up to 75 first. In case you missed it, here's what happened...

Shaq Evans was waived in the first cut down to 75, but then after that they waived/injured Tony Washington and then re-signed Shaq Evans.

So now with Armbrister, Holmes, Davis, Tripp and Barnes waived, I'm showing 70 players on the roster with 17 more to go.
