Caldwell on Joeckel

(This post was last modified: 09-08-2016, 09:21 AM by BklynJag.)

“[Joeckel] is a good starting offensive lineman. He has as much talent as anybody along that offensive line. This will be a little bit of a transition for him, but he’s played some good football for us. Now, he’s had moments that haven’t been as good. But I look across the league and I think Luke Joeckel can take us where we need to go.”

Ok Dave, you must be seeing something that im not. Thoughts? (Dont give me the what else is he supposed to say line)

Maybe....

just maaaaybe...

he knows more than Joe Fan?

Joe fan dissects every bad play, all 14 of them throughout the season and calls a player terrible.

Reminds me of when people were clamoring for McCray....... how could he possibly fall so far down the depth chart...

and now he's gone.

These guys are paid millions of dollars to do what you think you can do. But you can't, or you would.

Pretty simple honestly.

Too simple?

Joe Fan spends hours breaking down youtube video highlights!!! How dare you! Smile

Dave Caldwell has hit on a lot of little known (to joe fan) offensive lineman, if not knocked it out of the park, other than Joekel at LT. I trust his eval. It's hard to swallow on Joekel because he did bust at LT, but according to what's written above, he didn't say LT, he said offensive lineman. we'll see soon enough how Joekel holds up at Guard.

There's a reason he didn't take the 5th year option on him. They want Joeckel to play with the motivation of getting that next contract.

And if he doesn't perform... He'll be replaced in next year's draft. It's that simple.

J.J. Watt...arguably the best defensive lineman in the league was stonewalled by Luke last year the first time we played them.

Luke is a good lineman...maybe not the best, but still good enough to play in the NFL.

I think with Joeckel, and this has been said before, when he's bad, he's really really bad. Those types of plays stand out most to the fans and understandably so. He needs to be more consistent because those 3-4 really bad plays are drive killers.

In my mind, he's gone at the end of the season and will be replaced with a rookie drafted in the top 3 rounds. But I am rooting for him and hope he proves everyone wrong.

Luke played well against the Jets/Bucs and was awful against Cincy. He has the potential. We've seen it. He just has to put it all together. If he plays a full season like he did against the Jets then yes, Joeckel is a fine fit.

Getting manhandled by Geno Atkins is the lasting image we have of Luke. I'll reserve judgement until the season starts.

This is true, but he was throwing Luke around. Bad look. Like I said though, he played really well against the Jets and Bucs. Almost dominant. We'll see what happens come Sunday.

How dare you use JJ Watt as an example? Watt has abused Joeckel more then get stonewalled by him... Joeckel is a guy who has all the tools.. That's it.. Hopefully he can transition to become a Good player.. But as the jury stands now he's not..

Wasn't Watt playing basically with one arm in that game?
