NFL.com would have reported it if we cut Blackmon already.
I've gotten W10 to boot on a laptop rocking a Pentium 4. It needed some updates.

Just sayin'.

Excellent article on Blackmon. A bit long but a very good and detailed read.

I don't know if it's your device, or the jaguars.com website, that needs updating, but you're obviously looking at outdated roster information. The roster you are looking at is simply not the same one that the rest of us are looking at.

As for nfl.com, they do not report every last thing so their lack of reporting something means squat. ...that said, it probably would get reported somewhere on the web. Still, his not being waived by no means suggests that you have good roster information. The abundantly clear fact here is that you do not.

This is truly a great read. Here's a line for you...

The Buccaneers, who owned the fifth pick, sent a scout to Stillwater to sit in a bar for a week, their then general manager, Mark Dominik, later told Colin Cowherd. “We checked,” Dominik said, “how many times did Justin Blackmon come in? And he came in too many times.” The Bucs traded their pick to the Jags.

This is interesting...

Because of his suspensions, NFL.com estimated that Blackmon may only have received a little more than $7 million of his $18.5 million guaranteed rookie contract.

Maybe Blackmon is simply content in Oklahoma after having cashed in. It sounds like drinking, partying with friends and bar hopping is a way of life for Justin, and he doesn't want to stop. He was a truly great player both at Oklahoma and in his brief NFL stint, and reminiscing over those years of his life just might be a source of pride that's earned him respect in his home town. How may players in the Hall of Fame wish they made anywhere near $7 mil?

If that was the case Jags02...why wouldn't he just retire?

He wasn't that great. He had 865 yards and 1 big game in his best year. Broke 100 yards once the whole year. We were so starved for a 1000 yd WR we thought he and Cecil Shorts were the saviors.

Yes, you did. Maybe even longer. Not sure when the Cowherd interview happened, but the information was published not long after the 2012 draft.

865 yds as rook with gabbert and ham neck henne at QB. And his "big game" was actually a historic performance. His 236 yds were the 3rd most ever by a rookie, and it came against a very good Houston team that year.

And dont bother mentioning how he averaged over 100 yds a game his 2nd season before his career ended. He was making it look easy out there. Again, with gabbert and Henne throwing him the ball.

Say what you want about the guy, and it's sad how it all panned out. But Blackmon was a mega talent. Whats the point in trying to downplay that? The team has moved on and is fine without him anyway.

Blackmon was a star in the making.

But I'll go ahead and say it. ROBINSON IS BETTER.

He's not more gifted than Blackmon but Arob and those routes though.

Even though Robinson is one of the best NFL receivers in only his third season, the "what if" will always be there for Blackmon. Such a gifted player with a great future in the NFL drunk his career away. It is a big shame we lost a player who could have done great things for us in less than two years.

That was his 2nd year, thank you come again. And he never had 100 yards in a single game besides the one you mentioned. Maybe my math is suspect, but 865 yds divided by 14 games that he started (he played all 16) doesn't come out to 100 yds per game.

I've argued this all offseason. Arob is way better, more talented, more physically gifted, he's flat out better at everything, with the one exception maybe being YAC, and even that is a stretch. Blackmon never showed the consistency that Arob displayed, even when AR15 was a rookie. We way overrate Blackmon around here because of 1 dominant game against a horrible Texans pass D.

I don't overrated Blackmon because of one game. It was clear when we drafted him he was going to be a star in the NFL . . . if only he had no interest in alcohol.

Clear to you. He showed potential, but not consistently enough to make me say he was a star in the making. He was a very good WR, buy guys like AR15 that put up 1400 yards and 10 to 15 tds in their 2nd year are the true star players.

I'm not sure what you are arguing. The 236 yd game was in his rookie year. I never said he averaged 100 yds per game in his rookie year, but thanks for the math lesson.

I said in his second year he averaged 100 yds per game. And he had a 135 yd game and a 14 catch 190 yd game in that same year before his final suspension.
