 My guess is Tim Kaine would emerge to the top of the Democrat ticket because he's currently the V.P. nominee and that the consensus would be Kaine would be considered more electable than some Democrats considered by many as much further to the Left. 

 

The Democratic Party would have to select a replacement.  I feel strongly it would be Joe Biden.  First of all, Bernie wasn't a Democrat before he ran, and now that his run is over, he's dropped out of the Democratic party again.   No way would it be him.

  At the same time though,  if Bernie Sanders was the Democrat candidate,  many of Hillary Clinton supporters wouldn't vote for him.   It's hard to tell what the net plus or minus would be.
