I Still Believe in Bortles - merged

#21

He had a bad game. Didn't get much help though. Bad running game as usual, and other than JT and occasionally Hurns, the receivers weren't getting open.

Yeah I thought he looked very panicky in the pocket today and staring down people.

No Fun

Bortles is the least of my worries.

I'm more concerned with the WRs not getting ANY separation in 2 games than I am Blake Bortles being 3rd in NFL in passing yards. At the end of the season, Bortles will AGAIN have elite numbers and the Jags scoring defense will AGAIN by ranked 31st

The lack of separation is a definite concern, especially considering this is supposed to be a "vertical" offense. Allen Robinson is the only vertical WR this team has, the rest of guys are West Coast type of WR's

I don't believe in Bortles.

He has not improved from year 1 to year 3 when it comes to taking care of the football, which is the most important aspect of playing QB. He is also very inaccurate.

He's actually been very accurate this year.

His turnover prone, but his WR's don't create seperation and we can't run the ball, he threw the ball 50 times today. Blake hasn't played well but Greg Cosell was right when he said "Blake needs help", it's possible that our surrounding cast isn't nearly as good as we thought

You're clearly blind. Two weeks in a row a pass behind Lee pops up and gets picked. If that's accurate to you, you're going to love this season.

no, he hasn't.

throwing to Yeldon for 1 yard gains and bubble screens may make his completion percentage look better, but he is still as inaccurate as he ever was.

look no further than two weeks in a row - throwing the pick on a crossing pattern to Lee... both times thrown behind Lee.  He's costing us games.  He's not the ONLY reason we're losing, but he's as good of a choice as anybody else.

He doesn't have a running game and he has a below average OL so he pretty much has to do everything out there and do it in mere seconds.

Throw in the fact that he also has some very very suspect coaching calls and you are going to get what you saw out there today.

How many times are they going to throw it to Yeldon either behind, or right at, the line of scrimmage until they figure out that it isn't going to work?

I mean 8 receptions for 10 yards!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Come On Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

we all know he's the QB and he's the best choice for this team at QB right now.

But he's not good enough right now.  Not saying he can't get better, but he is just as much a reason for us being 0-2 than our usual suspects that we like to complain about.  Just calling it as it is.

He needs a running game, and I think he needs to learn not to let it get in his head when the team isn't doing well.  I think he gets frustrated, and it causes him to make mistakes.  He needs to get some ice in his veins, and not let it get in his head when the team is playing like crap (because they tend to play like crap a lot)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

he also contributes to the poor running game by calling audibles into obvious run blitzes which lead to losses for TJ.  He needs to improve big time, as do many other players.

You can't tell me that TJ Yeldon suddenly doesn't know how to run the ball.  Give him some average room and he'll make some plays.

Bortles is fine.  This shouldn't be a question right now.  Play calling on the other hand...
