Fire Gus Bradley (MERGED)

Quote:Coughlin would be ideal. If there was a way we could get him for 3 years and in the mean time he starts grooming his replacement, who he starts easing in as he takes consulting duties starting in year 4 through 6, that would be the best way to go.

110% agree.

Bring Coughlin in to finish the year and if he does what we think he can do sign him to a 3 year deal.....if not, we can go get someone else.

Coughlin is past the prove it phase. If he comes, it isn't until February.

Doesn't Coughlin have a job in the nfl office now? I doubt he will ever coach again.

Quote:The ONLY big name I could see coming to the Jags is Jon Gruden and that's ONLY because he LOVES living in Florida and loves young QBs.

That doesn't sound right.

To be fair, he loves all QBs. He slobbers during his MNF broadcasts.

I want Sean McDermott, the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. I think he deserves a shot. I'd like to see him bring in Ken Dorsey as the Offensive Coordinator. Dorsey works with McDermott as the Panthers' QB coach.

Does he know more than one scheme?

Look at the history of midseason coaching changes in the NFL. It is a complete disaster. We are stuck this year.

He's said he's up for coaching again. And with his ties to the area, I don't see it being an unreasonable idea. I'd love to have em back. But just to coach, nothing else like cap and GM duties lol.

Gus is as good as gone.

But if someone honestly thinks Coughlin would be effective as an NFL coach at his age just isn't very smart.

Old days are gone, and they're better left alone.

I'm thinking about Mike Smith

The ATL team he took over was no different than the Jags right now

Matt Ryan = Blake

Julio Jones = Arob

Other WR = Hurns

Michael Turner = Ivory

Tony Gonzales = JT

It's nice in theory but realistically he's too old.  Can't start over at his age plus there's all the baggage of him having been here before; come on, does anyone really want to try to live up to themselves?  That's crazy talk.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Those old coaches that come back never work out.

Just ask Dick Vermeil.

Now that I have calmed down I agree. No need to fire him now. This team won't make the playoffs regardless. Just have the decency to let him finish the season, take our top three pick and get a new head coach.

Lol... Gibbs was 68 when he retired the SECOND time...

Tom is already 70 and is out to pasture, enjoying an advisory role.
