Tulsa Shooting

Quote:The cop gets to stand trial. The victim didn't... But yes. That's what I've been saying this entire thread... Just to repeat what I asked Winger, I'd like your input on this as well... You can use whatever term you want on them, but saying she is corrupt and used excessive force could be proven wrong following an investigation. You want to believe those things are true, but they could just as easily be proven false. As for rioters, we have a ton of evidence of their destruction based on the numerous media coverage, cameras everywhere, eye witnesses, and more. The shooting didn't have nearly this much clarity. They really aren't comparable.
How many times has this happened now? How many times have we seen the lawlessness on our TV's? How many times have we seen riots and looting over something like this? In my opinion, the only way to stop it, is to cut it off.
Quote:The distinction is important. But when you then say don't rebuild, etc... It gets pretty bad. Also, the distinction was not made. But that's my point. Because a cop that makes a MISTAKE is not a criminal. You don't have the fortitude to put the uniform on and do the job. Show where this particular police officer was "corrupt and using excessive force". She made a mistake and though it was a deadly one, it still doesn't mean that she should go to prison. First degree manslaughter is only to appease liberals like you. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:Should she go to prison? No. If you "made a mistake" which cost someone their life, you don't think you'd go to prison?

Quote:Oink oink. That pig killed an innocent man. She deserves what she gets. Man, you must be in really good shape the way you leap to conclusions. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:Straw man. LOL. You guys are weak at making any sort of real argument. And when she's exonerated and returned to the force? What then? “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:If you "made a mistake" which cost someone their life, you don't think you'd go to prison? There's degrees of criminality in such things. Every instance where a person is killed because of an accident isn't automatically a crime. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Not an answer. If you killed someone "accidentally" do you or do you not think you would go to jail? Your question doesn't deserve a black or white answer. It can be very complicated, and also depends on if the victims family chooses to press charges or not. Should someone go to jail for accidentally rear-ending the vehicle in front of them and killing the person, despite following all the laws of the road? Humans are fallible creatures who have regular lapses in judgement and ability. Driving is extremely dangerous. I don't think that person should go to jail.
Quote:Not an answer. If you killed someone "accidentally" do you or do you not think you would go to jail? It's absolutely an answer, that's why those cases get different verdicts in different situations. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

If I accidentally killed someone, I would expect a minimal sentence. Not sure why that is hard to believe or why you're treating it like a "gotcha" question.

Quote:If you accidentally killed someone you wouldn't expect at least some time behind bars? Not that you couldn't escape it, but you'd expect it. You're working on your roof. You slip and fall off. You land on the neighbor who was helping you and break his neck. Jail time? Hardly. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:I'm not out for blood. I'm just calling it like I see it. This was a bad cop. A pig. And she deserves to be indicted. I think manslaughter is the right call... She deserves to be indicted and stand trail. She's a pig that killed an unarmed man.So let me try to understand you because your vitriol is quite frankly alarming and over the top. You do know what manslaughter means right? Here I will help you just in case: "the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder." I am not condoning her actions, she was in over her head and in hindsight should not have been wearing the uniform. Your ire however is way over the top. I thought you liberals were compassionate and looked at all sides. Perhaps not.

This woman in all likelihood has been balling her eyes out over this (conjecture on my part) where as that rioter in Charlotte after throwing the brick through the window and running out with the 54" flat screen most likely feels no remorse. Your comparison is beyond apples and oranges. Let me ask you this, right, wrong or indifferent had he simply complied with her orders to get on his knees as she directed would he be alive today?
