They did fix it. After fixing it, one blew up on a Southwest flight, one blew up on a guy's nightstand, and one blew up in a little girl's hand. RIP Note 7 (and probably RIP Samsung Galaxy Note phones entirely).

Samsung will be implementing "software updates" designed to force you to return the phone. There are rumblings on industry and enthusiast sites that Samsung will ultimately push a software update that completely bricks the phone and renders it unusable.
