There should only be two long-term plans for Dante Fowler moving forward

Quote:Gus isn't smart enough to use Fowler. I figured when we drafted him he would be play strong side LB, some DE or even kick inside on obvious passing downs like he did at UF. He's a great chess piece, but Gus is over here playing Candy Land.

It takes a while to find out if Fowler is best suited at Leo, Otto, Lotto, Toto, or dodo. Give Bradley time to figure it out.

I think a legit option would be to switch to a 3-4 next season and have Fowler as an outside linebacker. I think he would be a beast in that role. As for this season, he just needs to play DE and play fast.

This team can't run a 3-4. You have to have a strong draft philosophy for the tweener linebackers. We don't have the personnel or the willingness to draft for it. Please no more misfit philosophy.

Uh, what? That is what a whole offseason is for.

How is the personnel not solid for a 3-4?

DE - Malik DT -Miller DE- Odrick

OLB- Fowler ILB- Jack/Poz ILB- Telvin OLB- Yannick

Clearly the depth isn't there, but the talent for a 3-4 is surely there and an entire offseason to draft and sign for depth.

I'm just saying, with Fowler I think he would be much better utilized in a Von Miller type of role. I am happy with the way he is playing though, most DEs in their first year have a rough one. He is solid in the run game at least.

Why do people think Fowler would be better at OLB? His putrid agility scores would suggest that putting him in more space would be unwise. Very occasional snaps at LB to blitz the A gap like he did at UF would be fine, but full time LB would expose him big time imo.

Leonard Williams > Dante Fowler. Once again Caldwell over analyzed a high draft pick and didn't take the best player. All those tops picks and the only one it looks like he's hit on is Ramsey.

Uh 34 ILB is not the same as 43 MLB, just so you know...

That stuff is ancient history at this point.

How 'bout we analyze his play on Sundays in the NFL now.

I know. If assume you are referring to Telvin ? Cards use Deone Bucannon as an ILB and thrives in the role. Pretty similar in size.

I actually meant an undersized Poz fighting off guards. You'll wear him down into injury.

Ok go for it. What has he shown you that would make you think he would succeed in space? He didn't make any plays when they played him at LB at Florida either...except for the aforementioned A gap blitzes.

I never said he would.

I just think it's odd that you constantly base your posts on pre-draft drills and/or college performance.

you aren't changing to a 3-4 in one off season. We had a better defense in the past that was going to move to a 3-4 and we scrapped it. We haven't drafted or signed free agents to go that way.

Did fowler run over your dog or something? Damn the saltiness is strong with you.

Better than a SSS NFL resume. In time that will change.

It also wasn't specifically directed at you. Any of the plethora of people who have said he would be better at OLB are free to explain what logic would support that thus far.

Anyone still buy Gus as a defensive guru these days? You have to assemble a boatload of talent just to get an avg D out there for him

Marinelli is a defensive guru. There is not a lot of talent on the Cowboys defense and he's making them play really well.

Gus is not a defensive guru. He is just running what Carroll ran in Seattle. It's not like he had anything to do with that defense.

I had absolutely no idea you were trolling until this post. Yeah, it's Carroll's blueprint go with that.

Do you know what is really helping the Cowboys D to shine? An offense that holds the ball, limits turnovers and scores.
