Mettenberger

#1

Had started a post about him before the board switch.  Anyways as I mentioned in that thread, physically, he probably has the most talent of any of the QB prospects for next year.  His size and arm strength isnt matched... he is basically a Roethlisberger clone physically.

Struggled last year in his first season at D1 but has played really well so far this year.  Although LSU hasnt really played anyone.  Wanted to see how he did once the opponents start to stiffen up.  Through the first quarter of this UGA game he has looked really good.  Lets see if he can keep it up.

Murray and Mettenberger are both 2nd or third round guys.

Both are good game managers.

Murray has a lot of questions around his size, ability to read defenses quickly, and hand size. He should have had like 4 picks in the rainy game the other week. I think the draft process will push Mettenberger into the second.

Clowney then Murray or Shaw, although I'd settle for Mettenberger or McCarron too.

Lets pick up SEC players (we've mostly shunned them) and build this fan base in to Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama

Mettenberger wont fall farther than the 4th just because of his size and arm.  As of right now, I bet he'd be 2nd or 3rd.  But if he keeps getting better and better, he'll find his way in the 1st.  NFL doesnt care about production as much as they do potential.

Murray's best case is 2nd round if a team falls in love with him.  Odds are he'll be 3rd or 4th if not farther.  Although with the success a guy like Russell Wilson has had, that may help Murray.  While you can have success being under 6 feet and having an average arm, its the exception.  I dont feel bad for Murray though... he'll probably make a lot of money standing on the sideline holding a clipboard for the next 10 years.

You'd settle?  I know I wouldn't.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Could ypu imagine Caldwell banking his career on Murray lol. I'd take Mettenberger as q second QB if we draft two of them.

I'm guessing you haven't checked our roster lately. We have the great Carson Tinker as a LS if that doesn't get fans in Bama idk what will.

If Logan Thomas could actually play QB he'd be the perfect comparison for Big Ben, but alas I don't think he even knows how to read a cover 2.

Pretty good game for Mettenberger so far.  18/28 280 3 TDs 0 INTs.

may not be enough for the win however considering how easily UGA is moving up and down the field.

I really like Mettenberger, keep in mind he would most likely be GA starter over Murry if he didnt get kicked off the team. He has the size the arm and is running a legit NFL offense under Cam Cameron.

They actually touched on it earlier in the broadcast, as a true freshman Murray was supposed to start but he was battling some type of arm injury so they redshirted him.
