Yes, a significant portion of the Establishment either actively or passively resisted the Trump candidacy. None of the Bush family voted for him, Paul Ryan wouldn't endorse him, and several prominent media members including George Will were part of the #nevertrump movement. They don't control the candidate so they don't want him in, even if that means the Dems win this one.
