Henne strikes again!

Quote:Before you can worry about having this great backup you better feel you have an elite QB who is not likely to get injured. Otherwise you're looking at Ricky Stanzi to win you some games.

And how many teams have one of these great up and comers as backups anyway? Cousins/Redskins comes to mind, but I don't think there are too many others.

Right now the Jaguars don't have any starters, so they don't lose anything by cleaning house and bringing in 3 totally new guys. That's what I'm hoping for.

We don't know what teams have great up and comers because we haven't been watching them. Foles, Wilson, Romo, and Brady were all guys that sort of came out of nowhere, and there might be others because we don't get to see Mallet behind Brady or guys behind other top tier QBs.

Yeah actually we could lose something by cleaning house and bringing in 3 totally new guys.  Those 3 guys may actually be worse than Henne.  If you're getting a guy like Bridgewater - sure you could cut both Henne and Gabbert...

So what is your plan?  Get 3 new QBs... some like Mallet..

You do realize other teams won't just give up their backups, especially if they like them, for cheap?

So maybe we draft a QB, pick up a FA, and also trade away another draft pick for ANOTHER QB?  Sounds like a dumb idea even in Video Games.

You know what you have in Henne.  Decent backup.  If we draft a potential stud QB like Bridgewater, I say keeping Henne around isn't such a bad idea.  He can give you the 200 yards and 2 TDs every once in a while, can take a hit, shows decent leadership skills, and won't break the bank.  He's not someone you want starting the entire year, but just anybody else won't necessarily be better.

Sure, it could be worse in inconsequential ways. We could lose our first 8 games by at least 20 points each time instead of only 10. We could manage to only win a few games against other bottom feeders just like this year.

Yeah, I can see how you can say that things could be worse and would be wanting to hold on to a talent like Henne.

I'll go ahead and put a check in the cold comfort column for your vote.

Which column are you checking for yourself?   Pipe Dream?

Where are these three Romo/Brady/Foles types coming from?  Are we drafting all three?  How many FA?  How many are UDFA?

I'll put my check on the change column.

I'd rather the team fail by trying than ensure failure through inaction.

I'm pretty sure change is coming.  Hell, it already has.. The team has given up on Gabbert.

With the offseason approaching, I see Caldwell upgrading the QB position, no doubt.  But I think he's smart enough that you do it by getting players that are better, one by one.  You don't just cut all 3 right away.... What happens if we don't get a chance at a good QB in the draft?  What if we get some 2nd tier QB talent in the draft that is just as bad as Gabbert?

Or if we only manage to get FA QBs that are basically the same as Henne?  That, IMO, wouldn't do any good.

Noone here is saying "hey lets re-sign Chad to a multiyear multimillion dollar deal.  he's our guy!"....

Everyone knows we need a change at QB.  But a change for the better.  Hopefully we can do that in the offseason.

Sure, it wouldn't be good, but sometimes you find a Will Blackmon or a Sen'Derrick Marks or the like.

Basically we already know just how bad it is with what we have, and while it definitely is possible that someone could be worse I'd feel comfortable rolling the dice.

Will Blackmon and Sen'Derrick Marks are about as good at their position as Chad Henne is at his.

Not any better whatsoever.  They are contributors, sure - but they're not building blocks of the franchise.

I say upgrade Henne, even if it's with a guy that's a little better, while you wait on you QB of the future you may have drafted.

I'd say Marks is much better at his position then Henne.

I want to upgrade Henne, too, and it shouldn't be hard, he's not even ranked in the top 32 QBs in the league this year.

LOL.  And you keep saying you aren't a hater.    He's ranked 19th in total passing yardage even though he's started only 12 games.   He's ranked 18th in completion percentage.

Keep beating that hater drum.

He's 36th in passer rating out of all the guys in the league that have a significant number of passing attempts.

edit: however, he is in the top 10 for most interceptions. And in only 12 starts!

Remember when you thought Gabbert was better than Henne? Hahaha I know you already addressed it but its just funny to bring it up again.

No one has to beat a drum.  You make it plain to see in every post involving him.  Not to mention your need to jump in any time someone mentions him even remotely  favorably.  It's sad - since he has nothing to do with the team's long term future anyway.   LOL.  You've gone from Oklahomer to Oklahater.

It's like we somehow won't see through the disguise because Blaine uses "Oklahoma" in his user name.

And I always thought BG used Missouri in his user name.

After all, it has been nothing but Misery for the Jags since he has been here.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

7 pages of Henne talk? Lol!!!

Aight you guys are entertaining, but here are the truths! Gabbert will not be here next year! Henne will only return as a backup, and i hate this but he havent earned the rights to start for another season!! I gurantee we will have either a rookie starting, or some free agent..
