How would you feel about Fournette in the first?

I'm hoping D'onta Foreman of Texas declares for the draft, if Charlie Strong is fired. This kid is something special. He's listed at 6'1" 249 lbs. He runs over people and once he hits an opening, he's gone. He just broke Earl Campbell's UT record, stringing together 12 straight 100+ yard games. He currently has 1613 rushing yards and is averaging 6.7 yards per carry with a long of 74. This kid is something special. I'll say it now, he's as good as Ezekiel Elliott. He's the only player I'd consider staying in the top 5 for and building the O-Line with the next 2-3 picks. I'm not one to draft a RB that high, but I haven't seen a runner like this in a while. If you guys get a chance to see him, do it. I've been following him closely for the past few weeks and I'm shocked how good this guy is.

Quote:I'm on the Foreman bandwagon as well This guy is like no other runner I've seen before. Size, power and speed.
Foreman is my guy too, but I don't want any RB really...at least not day 1 or 2. Yeldon and Ivory are good enough.
Quote:my top RB, Cook fumbles to much Hasn't he only fumbled around 8 times in 3 years? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Hasn't he only fumbled around 8 times in 3 years?Think it's been 12 so far in 3 years. 6 of them came this year with 4 of them lost.
Quote:Peppers doesn't force turnovers soo idk how great of an impact player he would be. He's good at tackling buuut so are alot of college SS 16 TFL from his hybrid position is pretty impressive. He's made a handful of big plays on 3rd and 4th down that resulted in turnover on downs. He reminds me of a smaller, more athletic, Telvin Smith. You can play him at SS, OLB, or in a Deonne Buccanon hybrid role and he has the talent/athleticism to excel at any of them. He also leads CFB in punt return yards so we can stop putting Walters back there.
I know it looks like hindsight after Guice's gigantic game tonight, but I had been wanting to ask if Fournette is even the best back on his own team for a while now.
Fournette is no doubt terrifying once he gets to the second level and beyond, but he takes a while to build up momentum and is too linear for my tastes. Not to mention his ankle probably needs surgery. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
His health obviously may factor into his draft position.
I'm a bit torn where I'd draft him. He reminds me a lot of Demarco Murray. Moreso than AP. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, Murray had a lot of talent coming out of college also. I think it depends more on our needs than him IMO. We will see what FA does for us.
I'm starting to lean towards Fournette over Cook. I personally prefer thumpers like Ivory and I don't know if Cook can hold up in the NFL physically.
Samjae Perine is basically a poor mans Fournette and can be had in the 3rd
I like Fournette and Perine, but both have had a myriad of injuries this past season and that concerns me. I really want Foreman, but I can see Perine as a solid backup plan. He has alot of the same qualities as Foreman, but like I said, the only thing that worries me are the injuries. I just don't see spending a high pick on Fournette with all his injuries, when we could have someone who has proven to be reliable in Foreman.

The problem with the running game isn't the running backs. It's the offensive line. Drafting a RB in the first round without strengthening the offensive line is a waste of resources.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that we ignore the O-Line. Personally, I would spend no less than 3 draft picks to upgrade the O-Line, (RT, LG, RG) and add a swing Tackle and some interior offensive line depth via free agency and hopefully UDFA. We not only lack quality starters on the O-Line, but we are woefully thin, when it comes to depth. |
