So what about carriers competition, what right does the state have to make exclusive tax brackets? Where is the authority to tax one company at one rate and another company in the same industry at another rate?


This is dangerous territory if we're now setting a precedent that the federal government should negotiate taxes one in one.r remember Donald won't always be president at some point it'll be a Democrat would you still be comfortable with a Democrat deciding which companies get tax breaks and which don't?


You want carrier to stay ok make unilateral movea to roll back regulations and taxes across the board but we shouldn't bargin special deals for special people, that's not a free market.

 

I agree with you that there should be no special favors for individual companies. 
But it was also pointed out to me that this is a typical move for a new CEO. Do something positive immediately, something easy to get the ball rolling. The hard stuff comes later.

Think of the taxes LOST if they moved the factory to Mexico. Nearly 1000 people out of work and unemployment benefits paid out. Not to mention some would have to go on food stamps and possibly claim a disability. It would cost the country MORE if they just moved then if they stayed put.

Not to mention, those 1100 families will pay income taxes, sales taxes, and spend their money in the US. That leads to more jobs, and the economy grows and grows. It's not rocket science. The taxes still come in, just in a different avenue.


The asenine notion that taxing and regulating corporations right out of the US that liberals live by has killed the economy and was destroying this country.


One phone call from Trump, likely while nobama was golfing, and 1100 families have their lives back and are proud to be Americans again.

From what I understand it's Pence that made the deal as Indiana's governor which is a little better but on principle I still dont like government picking winners and losers.


I was just really uncomfortable with the idea that we had the federal government making special deals on tax plans.

No, what it says is Government intervention in the business market place.

 

So Carrier gets a $7 million dollar tax relief to not move 800 jobs to Mexico. What about all the other companies in Indiana which DON'T plan on moving jobs to Mexico? What do they get? I'll tell you what they get, not a darn thing. Carrier get's a $7 million government gift, while the rest of the Indiana business fraternity gets squat. Why should a great company who employs 100s of Indianians watch Carrier get a government lollipop for threatening to move jobs while they remain loyal to the American worker by keeping jobs in the U.S. get nothing?

 

Seems like people would be happy if every company threatened to move jobs to Mexico and the Government gave away all the tax subsidies to keep them here. In the meantime, average Joe (you and I) pay more in taxes to make up the shortage from the subsidies.
