Marcedes Lewis

If Marcedes Lewis was cut, almost every team in the NFL would go after him. I bet the Patriots would throw good money at him

Quote:Haha TMD is so mad Marcedes is playing good. Quote:From little to no impact to a major part of our offense, catching a TD the last four games.... To be fair, he hasn't caught more than 54 yards and 4 receptions in any game this season. In today's NFL, averaging 43 YPG (the last 4 games) isn't going to justify how much he's getting paid. The Gabbert + Henne combination may suck, but combined, they'll throw for 3,500+ yards by season's end. That's more than enough production for Lewis to pick up a little more in the yardage category. He's been an OL since he got here (2011 included). Don't get me wrong, he's doing well NOW. Blocking or not, he hasn't produced outside of 2011.
Quote:He's been an OL since he got here (2011 included). You can blame JDR for that. When Lewis got here, he was the number one tight end in college and Mackey Award winner. Del Rio made him Mark Bruener.

To me, the Marcedes situation is very simple. He's a good tight end being played like an elite tight end. I would be happy to have Marcedes as the starting TE next year, but not at his current price.
Marcedes at a reduced price > Cutting Marcedes > Keeping Marcedes on his current contract
The last what, 2 seasons ML has looked horrendous. He couldn't catch a cold.
But to deny his beast mode over the last 3 or 4 games is silly. All I can hope for is that something has clicked with him. Perhaps the QB and the coaching staff were compounding his issues. Let's he how he looks against the c'lots. I hope Gus targets him early and often in this game. And I hope he continues to play at this level. If he does, that's a good sign for a future QB. Who doesn't want a HUGE target to throw to up the middle and in red zone situations? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I just can't help but feel that his recent success has a lot to do with coaching and game planning. Crazy talk

Quote:ok....what about the other 5 years?....You mean the 5 years that included a probowl? Yeah, those 5 years were just awful.
In all actuality, the reason for his lack or production in the past is moot as long as he continues on with his current production in the future.
Quote:ok....what about the other 5 years?.... Didn't you spend those 5 years telling us how terrible Del Rio was as a coach?

Quote:You mean the 5 years that included a probowl? Oh, -A- probowl year in a contract year and average (at best) the remaining 8 years. Wonderful. Thats some high standards you set. Quote:Step1 - Hyperbolize the crap out of a player's poor performance however temporary it may be and deem him worthless You forgot a step in between. Say team should trade "worthless" player. Because even though he's "worthless" he'll be useful to another team.
Quote:You forgot a step in between. One of the steps is comparing player to garbage or feces, right?
