Jeff Fisher fired...should the Jags be interested?

The guys had 1 winning season as a coach so absolutely not.

Quote:While a genuinely dumb suggestion, it shows the level of desperation Jags fans feel about replacing this train wreck coach we have now.

Along with many other dumb suggestions that have been posted this season, but you know it's bad when people want a coach they loved to hate at the turn of the century.

Quote:Eh, kind of a deceiving stat. He's tied for 1st and Don Shula (who is 1st in wins) is 4th and Tom Coughlin is 5th in losses.

Jeff Fisher is also 11th all time in wins.
And only 6 of his 22 seasons were winning seasons.  Plus, once a Tack, always a Tack.

Quote:Even assuming he IS a new Jaguars fan, what in the world has Fisher done in St. Louis/LA to warrant consideration here?

Well he would be coaching in his home stadium. Smile

Quote:So did Les Snead, which makes no sense to me either.

People who think Jeff Fisher was fired days after signing an extension are dreaming.

Well they did.  It appears to be a really dumb move on the Rams part, but I'd have to guess that Jeff was already going to be fired regardless and this was just a means to gifting him a severance package.  Maybe Kroenke really liked Jeff and appreciated him having to deal with the move to L.A. or something.  I'm not sure there's really any other explanation that I can think of.  The only other thing is maybe Kroenke had that one guy in his mind that if he ever had the opportunity to hire as head coach he would without question and maybe that one guy contacted him over the past few days and made it known he was interested in a head coaching gig again. The guy being Cowher or some other equivalent.

It will be an interesting coaching search this year for the Jags and Rams.  Kroenke outmaneuvered Khan to get the Rams (thank god!).  I wonder if Khan has a "beat Kroenke at all costs" mentality when it comes to something like this now.

I would rather go 0-16 next year than ever root for a team associated with the demon spawn.

I'd vomit to see him wearing a Jags logo.

So LA is first to start a manhunt for their next HC. How does that help the Jags?

You're the 4th person I've seen post this. I counted 11 winning seasons. I'm not sure where this 6 number is coming from.

ESPN is the one reporting 6 winning seasons...  I'm too lazy to fact check it, though...

The number 6 is coming from the amount of winning seasons he has had. You should try counting again.

PS... 8-8 is not a winning season. You kind of have to win more games than you lose for it to be a winning season.

I understand the disgust around here for Fisher, but I wouldn't rule him out without knowing who the other candidates would be. I can tell you this; if it were a choice between Bus Gladley or Fisher I'm taking Fish.

Well technically, you're winning.  You're winning 8 games.

Well yeah.  That's just a given!

What about McDaniels...  He intrigues me.  I mentioned him the the NFL-at-Large Forum...  I think he may be mature enough now to really take his coaching to the next level.

He did win a playoff game with Tim Tebow...

I'm disappointed in you, how could you go through 1999 and even give credence to the idea of this? For shame my friend, we must maintain a shred of dignity even in these dark times.
