Bridgewater or Manziel

#1

The Jaguars brass have attended both Bridewater and Manziel's games this season. Other than a few scout attendances at other qb games (Bortles, Carr, Hundley, Boyd, etc...) , these are the only two qb's the Jags have appeared to show heavy interest in.

Todd Mcshay had been stating all along the Jags are quietly high on Johnny Football and even mocked him to

That does not mean they are only interested in two quarterbacks. We might want to pick Clowney in the first and a quarterback in Round 2. I am sure David Caldwell isn't going to say, "Teddy, Johnny, or nobody," when there are other quarterbacks to choose from. But we are expected to have the #3 pick, assuming there are no upsets on Sunday, so chances are pretty good we can pick one of them barring a leapfrog trade by the Browns or Vikings.

If bridgewater is not available I'm taking manziel if we go qb in the first round! The only kid I see that has the ability to make plays maybe bortles but I'd take Johnny football. If we draft Carr I will gauge my eyes out

I absolutely agree that these are not the only two quarterbacks Jacksonville is interested in, I'm simply stating that the Jags brass have only attended these two games and McShay is reinforcing the theory that the Jags are high on Manziel...we very well could go Clowney in rnd one and pick a quarterback later. I for one am NOT against taking a late round try 4th or 5th on Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray - he has proved himself through the years in the sec. But ultimately the Jaguars need a quarterback and I think Bradley and Caldwell are definitely targeting Bridgewater or Manziel.

Didn't Aaron Murray tear an ACL? He also is not as good as A.J. McCarron.

I am 100 percent against waiting until the third day to pick a quarterback. If we don't pick a quarterback in Round 1, we better get him in Round 2 or I will be mad.

What do we know about Fales?

If Texans are keen on Teddy then this conversation is moot.

His acl tear dropped him out of 2nd round consideration for most. That's why I'd snag him in later rounds. Heck, I'd even draft two qbs if I could get Murray in 5th.

Mccarron 4 yr totals-avg at Alabama:

67% completion 8632yds 75tds 13int 162rating

Murray 4 yr totals-avg at Georgia:

62.3% completion 13166yds 121tds 41int 159rate

Murray also rushed for 400yds and 16tds whereas Mccarron rushed for negative 7yds and 3tds in his career.

I still like Murrays ability to put a team on his shoulders and carry them when all the starters went down early and throughout season. Mccarron is decent but on a talent rich team and seems more a game manager.

The Jags would be stupid, stupid, stupid to pick Manziel with their first round pick.

Late first round/second round? Okay. But 3rd overall? Please.

I was about to say what you did in the 2nd sentence.

I wouldn't be against drafting Manziel in the late first. Not 3rd overall.

Not true. Earlier threads are about Teddy Bridgewater and Marcus Mariota reconsidering their decisions about declaring. If Mariota changes his mind, the Texans may want to pick him.

Second or third overall is the only pick number we can use on him in the first round because the Browns or Vikings would snatch him up if he is still available when they pick.

Trading down is always a possibility.

Not if every team that needs a quarterback likes the same guy. You have to stay put if you have any reason to believe another quarterback-hungry team is going to pick the player you want.

I am a strong believer that with an offensive line like ours, you need a mobile quarterback. That is actually more important than arm strength, which is overrated.
