Dave eyeing Josh McDaniels?

Quote:Yeah JBC is better off staying with Stafford for as long as possible in my eyes. Potentially a HC job there when/if Caldwell falters.

Matthew Stafford indeed has a great working relationship with JBC,   As long as JBC is the Lions OC and he continues on his current path,  it's a win-win situation.

Gonna fire our defensive-minded coach. K.

Joekel, Bortles and Dante Fowler. The disappearing act of a paid Hurnies. Arob is playing angry. Oline remains in shambles. As is the running game.

But yes sure the talent is there

What coach wants to come into that? If David remains the GM, he won't budge on Bortles. Who after three years is a bust. That's a big problem.

Kinda irrelevant here but I'm just saying.
I believe Gus has a huge hand in the regression of most of the issues you listed. They were able to perform last year based off natural talent alone but have all fallen off a cliff this year when being asked to do more.

Has anyone developed or progressed under Gus Bradley in 4 years?

A new coach should hopefully be able to right the ship.

It's not about being a charity. It's about bringing in a coach that can turn around a QB who has backslid. In the process, if he can help players with other issues, that's an added bonus.

If you take that report at face value, it also means that Dave isn't getting fired.

One thing to keep in mind is that New England was supposedly high on Bortles as a prospect. It could have been Bill or someone else there, but it wouldn't shock me if McDaniels also thought highly of Blake.

Dave won't be fired??

It makes sense being that McDaniels is friends with and played ball with Polian's son and Caldwell being a Polian disciple.

The NFL coach/gm circle is very small indeed.

Y'all are missing the forest for the trees here. Only one other person has pointed out the biggest problem with the story. It's basically assuming that Dave gets another chance at picking a HC.

The guy who in year 4 will probably have a worse record than his very first, completely tear it all down, still starting Blaine Gabbert season.

The same guy who has spectacularly missed by hiring the worst HC in league history, and also missed his first 3 top 5 picks.

It is all but assumed that guy is going to get another chance to pick another HC and make another top 5 pick.

Dave or a new GM is in 2017 will still have to hire a coach.

McDaniels will likely be at least considered. The reference to Caldwell sounds like rumor and assumption anyway.

Besides - if this guy actually has real  info that DC is interested in McDaniels - that only lends credence to the probability of Dave staying in Jax.

No coaches from the Belichick tree.
Like the one who is about to win our division again? The division no Jags coach has won.

Which would be the biggest and worst part of the tidbit.

First flaw is Caldwell gets the opportunity to pick the next HC. I hope that's not the case.

If he can pronounce Jaguars correctly, it would be an upgrade.

He incorrectly evaluated, overdrafted, and hitched his wagon to Tebow.

His supposed gifts are his offensive capabilities, but he coaches a Tom Brady led offense. I could be offensive coordinator for Tom Brady and look good

Wasn't McDaniels the OC while Garapolo was the QB at the start of this season?

Exactly.  Maybe when UNICEF buys a team they can give every sad case a chance.  But I'm here to see wins.  Not feel good stories!  LOL

The NFL is NOT the place for gus' "i'm oK, you're ok, they're ok" style of coaching.

Because Jaguars is our mantra  Wallbash
