Allen is a total game-plan wrecker along the defense front (13 tackles for loss, 15 QB hurries). Texas A&M pass-rusher Myles Garrett also figures to be in the mix here.

Tied with LSU RB Leonard Fournette for my best grade in this class, Garrett is the most disruptive pass-rusher in college football, with 21 sacks and 20 QB hurries in 23 games the past two seasons.

He can stuff the run as an in-the-box safety, he can cover and he's a great leader to bring into your locker room. The Jaguars need to continue to invest resources in their secondary.

I am going to hold off personally until I see who are next head coach and potentially general manager will be. How our system and scheme will look going forward obviously should dictate who we select. It's really a bummer though to see that Allen and Garrett are already off the board just like that in back to back fashion. Those are honestly the guys we should be hoping for since it's clear we STILL lack consistency from the front four in pass rush and our secondary has actually played good this year DESPITE of that.

Jamal Adams is a fantastic player.  He is very smart and I have no doubt that he will make a tremendous impact in the league.  However, we have more pressing matters.  The defense needs improvement, sure.  But overall, we need more OL help than anything.  I say trade down and gobble up the best O-lineman in Elflien and Nelson if possible, or perhaps that Wisconsin LT.  Our defense isn't great by any means, but it can hold it's own when we have an offense that can keep it fresh.  If a trade down isn't possible though, then I suppose a Allen/Garrett would be the smart pick.

I think Jamal Adams is the best Safety in the draft, but I would never take a Safety that high. On top of that, I don't have him as a top 10 player. He would fall more in the 12-15 category for me. The only scenario where drafting him would be acceptable is if we traded down.

Jamal Adams is better than Jabrill Peppers. If a good trade scenario presents itself and wet trade down, Adams would be a good pick. If Jonathan Allen and Myles Garrett are both gone at #3 I would trade down. Also Poz may be gone so Rueben Foster is also an option.

In that scenario I take Cam Robinson and start him at RT his rookie year with Beachum at LT. Grabbing a 2nd or 3rd round OG would shore up the Oline.

SS is a position I feel can be addressed in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.

3. The first quarterback taken in the NFL draft will have major flaws
<p style="font-size:18px;font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(35,35,35);">After watching Deshone Kizer in Notre Dame's season-opening loss to Texas, I predicted that Kizer would be the first quarterback taken in the NFL draft this spring. Now that the redshirt sophomore has declared for the draft, there's a real possibility that happens but if it does, it won't be a unanimous or even a consensus pick around the league.

<p style="font-size:18px;font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(35,35,35);">I hit up a couple of NFL contacts to get the latest temperature on where Kizer's stock sits — and it wasn't positive. One contact said he "sucks," while another said he has more studying to do but has "serious reservations" about Kizer. That's not exactly first-round praise.

<p style="font-size:18px;font-family:'proxima-nova', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(35,35,35);">The good news for Kizer is that nobody is catching first-round praise right now. From Deshaun Watson to Mitch Trubisky to Patrick Mahomes and beyond, every potential first round pick draws as much questions as he does excitement in NFL circles.

The same can be said for the entire 2017 quarterback class.

Maybe they do. But I think teams that feel they are closer to competing for playoffs might make a run at Romo, Kap, and some of these veterans.

 

The Jets have two young QBs, I don't think they invest in an early draft pick.

The 9ers and Browns seem like landing spots for overdrafting QBs.... But with the Browns having 2 first round picks, if they want QB, I think they take it first and take a stud defensive player at 9 or stud RB.

 

I just don't see the "need" plus "talent" of said QBs drawing interest for a trade in our position.

However, if we see a rise in these defensive stars and one or the other of Allen or Garrett are at 3, we could trade down.

But then I wouldn't want to.
