Reportedly Kahn couldn't wait. Said....

So you truly think that they haven't been looking at candidates already?

Love the click-bait thread title.

If Marrone or Hackett take over at interim and they blow out Tennessee and the Colts, are they promoted to HC?

1. Last home game of the year.

2. Fan base had already spoken Gus.

3. Just lost a 14 point lead to a division rival.

4. Lost to a rookie QB.

Had to make a change just to make sure fans show up.

I think they weren't convinced he wasn't the man going forward until todays collapse.

I'd wager Khan finally told Dave it's either him or the both of you.

This doesn't smell of something Dave was considering on his own.  Gus was "his guy" the same as Bortles is "his guy."  Seems to me more like Khan had simply had enough and personally stepped in where nothing was happening.

If Khan had to tell Dave to fire Gus, then Dave should have been fired too.

Yeah smacks of that..  well and the fact that he was trying everything possible to bring him back.

I see it the opposite with Caldwell finally convincing Khan it was time to move on.

I would consider that, if it weren't for what's also going on at QB.  They are both "his guys."  Khan's trust has been in Caldwell to get the coaching and player acquisitions right.

Khan lets his people make the decisions.  I am more willing to believe he stepped in after being on the sidelines too long, than the opposite - that Khan had been holding the GM reins (keeping them from Dave) and sticking with Gus until the guy who hired him finally turned on him and spoke up loud enough to take back GM control from the owner.

I understand the thinking, but working through that logic just doesn't make sense.

Regardless of which is more logical to you - they are both just guesses at how the decision happened.  Maybe DC will reveal some insight in a few minutes in his presser.

Any other examples?

Exactly. Ties in football run strong. You are tied to "your people".
