Your Thoughts On Fournette/McCaffrey?

#21

To not go to battle with your teammates and questionable love/passion to play a football game, to compete and win, all for a selfish reason, not worth drafting in the first round.

Jagsfan, if someone told you that they would give you $3 million dollars, but you had to skip Christmas this year with your family to get it....would you do it?

yes, because im poor. these 2 rbs are still going to get drafted and make a lot of money.

They've both raked in plenty of money for their respective schools without seeing a dime from any of it. They don't owe their schools anymore. They honored their commitments and now they're looking out for their futures.

I don't blame either one of them.   The bowl games they are skipping are meaningless.   Stanford and LSU have made loads of money off these guys.   I don't see any reason they should continue to play amateur football and jeopardize their professional career.

Going back to the early part of the previous decade,  RB Willis McGahee comes to mind as well.

It's all about the money. Fans have to accept this.

It ties into why would anybody want to play for the Jags..

Oh I could buy your love with Khan's money.

The schools use the players to make huge profits and leave the kids nothing...these guys may owe their teammates loyalty...they owe the school nothing!!

I wish this thread had a poll... Unless there is some other topic out there about this same subject that already has a poll, then I guess I am just out of luck. :/

For the record, I don't have a problem with these guys sitting out.

While I agree in principle, saying that the kids are left with "nothing" is a bit disingenuous.

I love this debate and Saban was partially correct in his response:

Link:  http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nick-saban-...18109.html

1. The fans, media, etc wanted a playoff, which means, all these bowl games lose relevance

2. We have created an NFL farm system through college football, amateurism is a lie given to us by the NCAA so they don't have to pay, give scholarships or give out benefits beyond 3-4 years (free education is a garbage argument, look up paper classes, these kids don't get an education). These games don't matter to these kids because the NFL is waiting for them and these 500 little bowl games are effectively meaningless

3. The passion argument gets lost because the athlete owes nothing to the school that is churning him out for the next kid, or next money maker. You can't treat students the way the NCAA does and then expect passionate loyalty from them when you've created a business out of amateur athletics.

How are non National Championship bowl games irrelevant now but were relevant 5, 10 years ago?    If the post season only matters for the 4 teams in the playoffs now, does that mean that the post season only mattered for the 2 teams in the National Championship game 5, 10 years ago?

The lack of consistency in this logic in this logic is mind numbing.

not if they get a career ending injury like teddy might have going on in minnesota. just one play and those guys could go undrafted costing them millions.

Well then can you at least support why it's wrong? Instead of just attempting to prove you understand logic? Hence why I say Saban is partially correct in his assumption. There is not a clear "A" therefore "B"

even if it was not the championship, the bowl games used to have more meaning, now its pretty much national championship or bust.
