Bortles: "Olsen and House had different beliefs."

Quote:Does a QB really need to be throwing to his receivers during the offseason? Isn't that what mini and training camp is for? To get back into the groove and timing and such?

Before the new CBA, yes. Now with reduced practice time most young QBs would be better served spending some of their own time working out. That's part of what's wrong with the quality of play in today's game.

So Bortles is not a natural "stand-er"?

Makes sense. Olly probably didn't have as much say in 2015 since he was brought in then. I guess he felt this past offseason he could voice his opinion a little louder and caused issues. Hence, bortles suffering for it.

Are you guys really going to let Bortles hoodwink you? The 2015 season that everyone loves to refer back to...well Bortles was 24th in QBR which means he still wasn't good. He seems to have a bevy of excuses for his play this year.  The sooner we move on the better. I really hope our future coaching staff brings in some legit QB competition like Tyrod Taylor.

A 4th year QB who still needs to learn how to throw. Woof. I applaud his ability to diagnose the problem and heavy the blame, but this obviously isn't ideal.

Wow Bortles should really be more like Chad TomBrady Henne

Why didn't we play Chad Henne if he's like Tom Brady, another #becausejaguars moment

I'm hesitant to get too excited about this even though it's encouraging simply because the throwing motion does not affect the decision making, which i see as a bigger issue. Plus doesnt he fumble a lot? Surely that's not related his throwing motion. I say we still draft a QB

Are you seriously referring to QBR right now? Like really?

If you want to hitch to that BS ESPN stat they came up with go for it. Watch the games. Bortles was solid in 2015. Was he a top 12 QB? No. Was he a top 20 QB? Yes. Was he also in just his 2nd year? Yes. What he did as a 2nd year QB was nothing short of impressive with that joke of an OL, no run game, bottom 5 defense.

QBR is the biggest joke of a stat ever made and has been proven as such many times.

If you have a QB having issues with throwing motion, and has to think about it in a game, it will affect decision making as he is thinking too much.

You lost all credibility when you used "QBR".

Guess we should bring in Charlie Batch.  He had the best QBR of all time in a game.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

You guys can hate the QBR stat all you want it still doesn't change the face Bortles still wasn't good in 2015. He's playing for a long-term 20/m yr contract next year. If we're serious about winning we'd move on.

To who? Garrapolo with 2 games and an injury? Tyrod who was horrible this year too? Romo who hasn't made it through a season behind the best OL in years?

Are you really interested in Bortles as our long-term QB? He's had 3 full years of work.

2016 Tyrod >>>>>>> 2016 Bortles

Carson Wentz, Colin Kaepernick,  Cam Newton have been told they need to improve mechanics, or giving them help with mechanics. Blake is far from the only one.

Mechanics I agree. But they don't have to fix a windup issue.

Also, add Andy Dalton to the list. There is a lot of qbs who go to Tom House. Pretty sure Tom Brady even does.
