Are we set at the running backs position?

#21

NO! It is probably our biggest need outside of fixing the O-Line. We desperately need an every down RB with power and breakaway speed who can reel off some big plays. If we had that, our offense would look completely different.

Using a high pick for a RB is stupid imo.

We need to fix the OLine ASAP. Ivory, Yeldon, Grant is not that bad. Maybe we could add a FA or a 6th or 7th pick for depth.

Why? A 3 down back touches the ball half the game.  Picking a WR at the top of the draft who gets thrown at a handful of times a game is stupid but it happens every year.  If there was a OT or G at the top of the draft I'd agree but there isn't. Dalvin Cook had 1700 yards this year behind a pretty bad OL.

Until we fix the O Line, there's no point in drafting an RB High.

Quote:No running back can run when we have a OL that cannot run block. Our Line improved this year in pass blocking but totally stunk at run block. We could still pick up a RB in a later round, but, an OL upgrade is badly needed.
I agree.  I don't care how good a RB is he will not be successful without a good line.  Why is Elliot so good.....because he has an outstanding offensive line.

This team needs an elite RB. This team can't get it done otherwise. I don't trust Bortles, nor his health when having to throw more than necessary due to a lousy running game. This is a huge hole for us. Drafting Yeldon at #2 was a miss, and adding Ivory didn't help as much as we had hoped. I hope this a priority for our GM and HC.

Trade back to the late teens/early 20s pick up extra picks and draft McCaffery.

If we traded down later in the 1st round and added a 2nd and a 3rd, we could easily get an elite RB as well as addressing the LG position and the RT position as well as adding a DE and possibly a Safety or a CB. Trading down just makes sense. If we get this kind of offer, we have to take it.

As many times as it takes. People keep posting that we need to fix the O-Line first, like it's either the O-Line or the RB position. Both can get fixed this year, if we're smart. It's not a choice of one or the other.

Quote:I personally have not seen enough progress to justify being set at running backs. We have seen flashes. And potential.

But at this point is that enough?

I do not think so. And look for us to grab one in FA or more likely draft. What is your take? Has it been the line? Having no true blocking fb? Or the backs itself? The reason for lack of production.
Hell nooooo.. The line plays a part.. But Yeldon isn't a great runner and Ivory not consistent and he turns it over too much... I'd be keep in my eye on Dalvin Cook.. He should be our 1st rnd draft pick.

I don't think anyone is saying fix only offensive line this year and completely ignore RB. Just that OL need more resources devoted to it.

I like James Conner or the end from Tennessee

No we need an explosive RB

You see what happened when we put Corey Grant back there, he's not a super polished back, but having speed was able for him to get a lot of yards.

We need a player back there with RB skills and speed
