Boyd can pass and run. Not worried about his height, but his decisionmaking and ability to read defenses. He's thrown some suspect INTs and I also wonder if he's making his receivers better or its the other way around.

I think Garrard is his floor. I think he has a chance to be more like a mobile Brett Favre. I don't think he'll last as long because he'll run more.

Boyd is pretty bad. His receivers definitely have made him look better. He throws a lot of off target passes and can't read a defense. Lots of bad interceptions. Also, the favre thing is buts, boyds arm isn't even close to favres. Not close.

At best he will be a 2nd rounder, but I don't see it happening. He will be drafted in the 3rd-4th round.


His best attributes are that he has nice mechanics and footwork, quick release and is mobile/athletic. However, he struggles with accuracy at times, and the stuff that he did in college isn't prostyle at all, so he will have a high learning curve once he gets to the NFL. I just don't see anything special from him.

That game is easily the most overhyped one game I can think of in my amateur cutup scouting history. Boyd is just not a top 100 prospect in this draft sorry.

A ton of not very good QB prospect have 300 yard games and lots of wins in college. Doesn't make them good prospects.

just because you say, "he isn't a good prospect", means nothing. your statement doesn't really have anything to back it up.

Boyd has one above average trait I would say and that is his athleticism, and even that is just above average not exceptional. His mechanics are pretty solid too, kinda slow but good enough.

 

He's not big, he has poor pocket presence, average to below average accuracy and ball placement, average velocity. He's just all around an average QB prospect, literally nothing about him says franchise QB.

I said his athleticism was his one above average trait, but it's not even close to exceptional like a Cam/Kaepernick/RG3/Vick/etc. Not sure what I'm wrong about there since above average would = pretty good to me.

I said his mechanics are kinda slow, as in the time it takes for him to take the snap, drop back, and release the ball needs to get a bit faster. But I also said it's not that bad over all. It could also be because his information processing is just slow so he doesn't read the field and make the right decision as fast as he could. Either way it needs to speed up a little.

If you aren't big you need to be really, really good in a lot of other facets of the game, and he just isn't at all.

I never said downfield accuracy. I said accuracy. Downfield accuracy is by far the least important of the three, and Boyd is just average in the short/intermediate and it's hard to judge how accurate he really is downfield when he is throwing to elite NFL type talents for his career...but it may be good who knows.

I never said arm strength doesn't matter, I said your phrase 'has the arm' didn't mean much because that phrase could literally mean half a dozen different things. If you are saying you meant it as arm strength then ok, and I say that his arm strength is average. Average doesn't mean it's a weakness, it just means he's average. Saying he isn't a top 100 prospect doesn't mean he's bad, it just means he's average. QB purgatory material. If he lands in a great situation he can be a Dalton/Alex Smith type who can 'lead' a very good team to the playoffs, and then an early playoff exit.  


 

In summation, Boyd is an average QB prospect...and your reading comprehension needs more work than Boyd does.
