Boyd can pass and run. Not worried about his height, but his decisionmaking and ability to read defenses. He's thrown some suspect INTs and I also wonder if he's making his receivers better or its the other way around.

Quote:Boyd is David Garrard.I think Garrard is his floor. I think he has a chance to be more like a mobile Brett Favre. I don't think he'll last as long because he'll run more. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Boyd is pretty bad. His receivers definitely have made him look better. He throws a lot of off target passes and can't read a defense. Lots of bad interceptions. Also, the favre thing is buts, boyds arm isn't even close to favres. Not close.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Still my second favorite QB. Now that its looking like Bridgewater will be a Texan, Boyd is a strong possibility.
I love his arm and feet. I think the guy can play. I think he struggled against teams like FSU cause his team around him was out outmatched (lack of protection, good coverage, ect.). I still say he will make some team in the NFL very happy. I go back to his game against LSU when he had Hopkins to get open with a solid tight end and protection. He could move the ball against an elite defense when he had more playmakers. Quote:Still my second favorite QB. Now that its looking like Bridgewater will be a Texan, Boyd is a strong possibility. He needs to learn to handle pressure better IMO. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:He needs to learn to handle pressure better IMO.obviously he has room to improve, but i feel like he is pretty good in all areas. i dont care what QB you have. if you cant protect them somewhat consistently, they won't play well.
At best he will be a 2nd rounder, but I don't see it happening. He will be drafted in the 3rd-4th round.
His best attributes are that he has nice mechanics and footwork, quick release and is mobile/athletic. However, he struggles with accuracy at times, and the stuff that he did in college isn't prostyle at all, so he will have a high learning curve once he gets to the NFL. I just don't see anything special from him. Quote:I go back to his game against LSU when he had Hopkins to get open with a solid tight end and protection. He could move the ball against an elite defense when he had more playmakers.Yeah, he looked good at times when he had Nuk and Watkins...who wouldn't look good with two of the top 5 weapons in the game? Also, that was pretty much the only game he has had in the last two years where he really looked like a franchise QB prospect. That game is easily the most overhyped one game I can think of in my amateur cutup scouting history. Boyd is just not a top 100 prospect in this draft sorry. Doesn't make them good prospects. Quote:A ton of not very good QB prospect have 300 yard games and tons of wins in college. Doesn't make them good prospects. where in my original post did i cite numbers? i like his skill set, but if you want proof that he has looked good... the numbers are there just because you say, "he isn't a good prospect", means nothing. your statement doesn't really have anything to back it up. he has the numbers, he has the arm, he has the wins... what makes him "not a good prospect"? Quote:he has the numbers, he has the arm, he has the wins... what makes him "not a good prospect"?Two of those three mean exactly zero when it comes to scouting a player...and 'he has the arm' doesn't mean much either. Boyd has one above average trait I would say and that is his athleticism, and even that is just above average not exceptional. His mechanics are pretty solid too, kinda slow but good enough. He's not big, he has poor pocket presence, average to below average accuracy and ball placement, average velocity. He's just all around an average QB prospect, literally nothing about him says franchise QB. Quote:Two of those three mean exactly zero when it comes to scouting a player...and 'he has the arm' doesn't mean much either.oh wins mean 0. so i guess going 0-12 is acceptable? ok arm means little? it's not everything, but its important. if anything holds back good college QBs, its usually lack of arm strength. his athleticism is pretty good for a QB with his passin skill set, so... you are wrong there kinda slow? not really not big? history proves that means nothing as long as the player is good. his accuracy down field is actually very good. wrong again. you say arm strength doesn't matter, but then cite velocity as a weakness? make up your mind about whats important to you. his velocity is really good anyway. you haven't watched him much apparently. who are you kidding? all of your "he's average to above average" is you just trying to disparage his ability. then when i point out your inaccuracies, you say i didnt read it right. no, i heard you loud and clear. you don't like him, but nearly all of your assessments are inaccurate.
how could "he has the arm" mean anything other than arm strength deep accuracy is hard to judge? no it isn't. if the ball is on the money, he's accurate. I've seen him do it many times. 68% completion... ya he's so inaccurate Quote:who are you kidding? all of your "he's average to above average" is you just trying to disparage his ability. then when i point out your inaccuracies, you say i didnt read it right. no, i heard you loud and clear. you don't like him, but nearly all of your assessments are inaccurate.Such a scouting simpleton...yikes. |
