Stay or go: Todd Wash

Quote:Apparently the defensive coaches were told that if Marrone was hired, they got to stay.

That's from Albert Breer.

I'm a little lukewarm on that one.

Albert Breer – Verified account ‏@AlbertBreer

Jacksonville defensive coaches were told previously that they'd be retained if Doug Marrone were to get the job.

Albert Breer is saying defensive staff will stay intact. NOOOOOO PLEASE GOD NO.

So nothing changes but the head coach and VP. Khan is way to stubborn to admit things aren't where they need to be.

Just seen it. Good news and bad news are coming one after another.

That scheme needs to go. The players agree. Also that defensive backs coach has been there for ages despite us having a near historical low amount of picks by DBs the last 4 years.

Any competent DC would have these guys playing well. Todd Wash isn't doing anything special. Where was he during the Colts' games?

Maybe they will get rid of the scheme still. It's possible.

When Gus was here the scheme was his fault.

Now that Gus is gone, the scheme now becomes Wash's fault.

People can't make up their mind who to blame.

@alexmarvez Not sure if out there but I'm told @Jaguars keeping DC Todd Wash & LBs coach Robert Saleh from current staff. Maybe others as well @sn_nfl

It will be interesting to see how much deviation from the 2016 scheme Wash would employ given an offseason to do so and given the absence of Bradley.

My only real concern is some of the coverages that were called during the fourth quarter of that Colts comeback in week 17.

If that type of over-conservatism is addressed - I'd feel pretty good moving forward with Wash and some version of the scheme we saw in 2016.

It's strong against the run, it's not bad against the pass and should get better there as this secondary evolves and the pass rush is starting to get there.

Wash comes from a Tampa 2 background so perhaps he'll change to that.

Myles Jack barely played under this inept staff. Can't say he'll be too happy with them back, or Ramsey.

Both will take the first chance to bold in my opinion. If Jack doesn't start that's dumb.

Did Poz play under Marrone?

We need to change the defensive scheme. I hope Wash does exactly that. I hate this LEO and OTTO crap. As stated above I hope we switch to a Tampa 2 defense. We would need a new MLB, a faster one that can drop into coverage. I would either trade down and get Derek Barrnett or Jamal Adams.

Myles Jack is all of that.

My original thought that all tied to the failed staff should go, but I guess I was out voted.

Ugh might as well kept Gus another year if that happens
