Jon Allen

Where was he at last night? If yhis guy is the next Aaron Donald, Suh, or McCoy he would of had a moster game in the championship. He is a very good player but not on those guys level.

I think that's a fair shot to take at him. I kept my eye on him in the first half and he was getting double teamed and chipped quite a bit. I am not sure if that's because of his overall reputation already with the production to support that the past two years though.

You'd have to really look at his pass rushing skill set to say to yourself as a scout if you think he's athletic enough to take advantage of Malik Jackson drawing most of the attention away.

Because outside of Allen I don't think Alabama has another big threat on their front four. They're top heavy in the line backing core and secondary. But outside of him I just don't see where else they make a splash. And often times if they do it's because he's drawing the attention.

One game. If that causes him to fall to us at 4 that's great

He was doubled throughout the first half of the night. Hence why Anderson was making play after play.

Bama's Dline is deep and Allen is the most talented which is why he drew a lot of double teams.

I fell asleep in the 3rd Q so I can't speak for the rest of the game but I imagine the gameplan of the Clemson Oline was "don't let Allen through"

Hopefully you take this narrow view toward Leonard Fournette as well (many posters want him at 4)... since he basically disappears every season after playing Bama.

Man... how bummed would I be if we had to settle for Jon Allen at 4...

What causes him to fall to us at 4 is DeShaun Watson.  Cleveland is not going to be able to resist taking him now.

If they want to be that reactionary and take a project QB 1st overall, I'm definitely not complaining.

Clemson have a quality OLine but yeah I actually can't remember him doing much.

Crazy how Bama has around 7 or 8 future 1st round picks on the one defense.

I don't know if we are really qualified to say who is a project quarterback and who is not, after Goff was considered the next great thing and Prescott was considered a 4th round project.

Throwing for 400 yards last night plus leading his team down the field to victory in the 2 minute drill against one of the best college defenses in recent memory has to count for something.

Hard to predict sometimes for sure.  Just my opinion that he's not a first round prospect, but I could definitely be way off.

My point of this thread is i dont think Allen is that much better than guys like Fornette, adams, and Barnett. They are close as prospects imo and the other positions are much more of need

i think the Rams are the only team that had Goff as high as they did

What are you basing this on?  Not saying you are doing this, but if you're just basing it off of last night that's not an accurate way of evaluating a prospect.  Comparing somewhat apples to apples since they're both D-lineman, I don't see Barnett in the same tier as Allen.

I like Fournette and Adams as top 10 guys though.  Hooker too.  I can see going a few different ways at 4.

Jon Allen is a beast. We would be lucky to have him.

I think this is the year the Jaguars try to trade down, bolster the o line and acquire more depth though.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Only way you don't select Allen is if Garrett is available or someone wants to give up a good bit to move up... imo.

Shouldn't make the Leonard Williams mistake again.

Correct, Allen is a monster and most likely we would need to move up to get him. Most projections have him at 2-5 range.

We pick 4, so we're in that range. I don't know that we need to move up.

If QB hungry teams go for Trubisky and Watson, and Garrett is selected. That leaves Allen at 4.

If Both DL guys are gone, I think someone might be willing to move up to 4 for the other QB left....

we might actually get some real value out of this draft

You cant know Allen for last night getting doubled teamed all game, and give Garret a free pass when he didnt make plays for getting doubled in a lot of games
