Multiple defensive coaches let go today by Jaguars, including well-regarded LBs coach Robert Saleh. Will be a different looking staff.

Quote:So because Jason La Confora says he "can coach" your questioning the move? Come on man try to think for yourself, is it possible that the Jags view DeWayne Walker as "upgradeable"? You don't think Tom Coughlin and company know what they're doing?
I know me, I been wanted Walker out.  Where were the picks? Plus those DB's oft appeared ill prepared.

Bortles regressed largely due to not working with his throwing coach in the off season.

Quote:My main problem with Hackett is he's a QB coach who oversaw one of the most striking breakdowns of an NFL quarterback mechanics in recent history.

Except that Blake openly said how he wanted to fix his footwork all season and Olsen wouldn't allow him to focus on that with Hackett.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

True but if I had a choice between no changes or some I'll take ladder.

A new Defensive system does indeed seem likely for the Jaguars.

My guess is Robert Saleh's services will be in demand by multiple NFL teams.

@rapsheet Sources: The #Raiders need a new offensive coordinator. Bill Musgrave not expected to return to the team for 2017. Had 6th ranked offense.

Should have waited a day Jaguars.

dont you have a stool to sit on?

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Doug Marrone has been busy today:

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone has retained DC Todd Wash and defensive assistant Mike Rutenberg and relieved all the other defensive assistants, league sources tell Adam Schefter and myself.

It wouldn't be surprising,   Yet,  one or more other options seem likely.

Quote:defensively this is a very big deal
They essentially cut off the headz and kept them living like Krane, and now will allow that bodies to evolve into something stronger.

So We extend Dave, get TC, hire Marrone- Keep the OC and TE coach, keep the DC and asst def coach and clip all the loose endz. Hmmm. I like it.

When Bill Musgrave was the Jaguars OC,  the consensus amongst Jaguars fans on the MB/ Forum was he should be fired.

Quote:Wash was only in Seattle for 2 years vs. Bradley's 4, so he may not be as stuck on the scheme like Gus was.

Quote:It is entirely possible that any given coordinator just might be capable of running more than one scheme, isn't it?

Wash was an up and coming guy before he was promoted to our DC spot. I am VERY THRILLED that the gus seattle scheme is gone.

Wash has a background in traditional 4-3 defense as well. I am assuming we will run a hybrid defense that plays to the strengths of our players now, instead of running a defense and trying to force our players into positions that they dont excel in.

Id have loved to bring in Pettine or someone else big time, but if Marrone and Coughlin think Wash can get it done, then we have to wait and see.

For those who were fearful that Marrone would keep the same coaching staff, is this enough change for you?

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

It seems like the nature of most NFL fan bases with the Patriots in this century being an exception because of their winning track record.

Is anyone familiar with the other assistant that was kept with Wash? What was his responsibility?

It appears he followed D.Walker here a few years back.

It is for me. But, I know I'm not who you were talking about. You knew Hackett wasn't going anywhere. I was back and forth as whether Wash should stay. But with a new scheme, I'm down with keeping him.
