This is why Jags should draft Leonard Fornette..
|
If we draft him (which I'm completely ok with), we better land some really good linemen in FA; otherwise his value goes down on our team. The same applies to Cook.
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

If Allen is the best player available, you take him and make it work. Elite D-lineman don't grow on trees nor do they play every single down, meaning we need a strong rotation.
What makes Fournette better than Cook. I was under the assumption that everyone had Cook rated the best RB this year. When did Injury Prone Fournette become the leading RB in the Draft?

Honestly i haven't watched enough of Jamal Adams to say he's worth anything at this point. Maybe whoever your talking about doesn't football at all, if a 1st round prospect, in his mind, is really a 3rd or 4th round player. He either has unwordly abilities to see into the future or he is wasting msg space.

Not that PFF is gospel but wasn't Fournette rated higher also? I think both guys but Fournette has a slight advantage with his size IMO. He can outrun any LB and truck over any DB.

Thats of course if they think is health is 100% We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
As long as it's not long term then his health doesn't bother me. Gurley went high despite a torn acl and I personally think thatFournette is a slightly better Prospect

Don't judge me but i dont follow anything FSU except the W-L column

Kind of like Myles Jack, I think it is a long term worry more than a short term worry.
Quote:Fournette's issue is described as a "chronic ankle injury" that will require surgery at some point. Kind of like Myles Jack, I think it is a long term worry more than a short term worry. Fournette's ankle problem is a "loose ankle" which is stretched tendons. It's very common in basketball players. It's a relatively simple surgery to tighten then tendons back to normal. It's not really a long term concern, it can be corrected in a single off-season

He had issues in high school from growing up in a rough neighborhood. Then when he was at FSU he was accused of assaulting a girl outside of a bar, but he was quickly found innocent of the charges. And he was mean to some dogs, which has a lot of people's panties in a bunch on here. He's since straightened out and has no concerns. People on here just have to over-analyze and be outraged at something.

It's not really a long term concern, it can be corrected in a single off-season first of all, you are wrong. He doesn't have "stretched tendons" which cause a "loose ankle." And the surgical fix for a "loose ankle" isn't simple at all.

I wouldn't mind Fournette at #4 at all, but man that is a lot of money to have spent at the RB position. Chris Ivory is making top 10 RB money in the league right now. As it currently stands, Ivory is the 7th highest paid RB in the league right now. Once Bell gets paid, that'll obviously change. Ivory's contract guarantees were for the 2016 season and the upcoming 2017 season + signing bonus money. Can't really see him being cut for some time due to dead cap, as cutting Ivory after the 2017 season results in 6 mil in dead cap as you can see here: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-...vory-7085/
Reason I bring this up is because last years #4 overall pick Zeke is not being paid as some slouch. He is getting top 10 RB money (6.2 M) that is 100% guaranteed. This is a lot of money to have locked up in the RB position, and Dave would have to basically admit to the mistake of the Ivory contract. Now, clearly if Tom and Dave both agree that Fournette or Cook is a generational talent at RB you don't pass up on the talent because of Ivory. I would also hope they have a real good plan to sure up the O-line(which is going to cost some $$), because as you see in LA you can have a RB with talent like Gurley, but without the bigs and a respectable passing attack you end up with 3.2 YPC on 278 carries. We have the cap to make things work right now but there are some guys who need to be paid after this 2017 season such as Arob, Lee, Linder, Colvin and Smith so I guess we will see what the plan is.

When it comes to who has the better ability to use their size to their advantage, i'd take Fournette. I just really would prefer Cook due to NO injury concerns. Bulk him up and roll the dice that Cook will have the better career more tailored to Freddy T-esque levels of play.

Comparing fournettes ankle given the lack of concrete info we have on it, to Gurleys ACL isnt accurate imo.
ACL injuries are regularly fixed and only sometimes do you see guys tear it a second time. A nagging ankle might seem less concerning but without more info on what exactly it is, its more concerning than an ACL tear which is almost a routine fix these days
Quote:first of all, you are wrong. He doesn't have "stretched tendons" which cause a "loose ankle." Sorry, ligaments, not tendons. <a class="bbc_url" href='https://www.google.com/amp/draftwire.usatoday.com/2016/11/18/lsu-rb-leonard-fournette-could-have-chronic-ankle-problem/amp/?client=ms-android-google'>https://www.google.com/amp/draftwire.usatoday.com/2016/11/18/lsu-rb-leonard-fournette-could-have-chronic-ankle-problem/amp/?client=ms-android-google</a> And it's a 6-12 month recovery. <a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.aofas.org/footcaremd/treatments/Pages/Lateral-Ankle-Ligament-Reconstruction.aspx'>http://www.aofas.org/footcaremd/treatments/Pages/Lateral-Ankle-Ligament-Reconstruction.aspx</a>

Quote:Sorry, ligaments, not tendons. So even when RB enter the league healthy they have shorter careers, with even shorter peak years, and have more injuries mixed in...and we want to take a guy who isn't going to be coming into the league healthy on top of that? Massive no thanks to that proposition. |
