Jaguars to interview QB at Senior Bowl

#1

Per Hays Carlon the Jaguars a formal interview scheduled with Pitt QB Nate Peterman at the Senior Bowl.

Could be nothing but perhaps a sign of that we are looking for a QB in the mid rounds. Will be interesting to see how many QBs we talk to this offseason.

Didn't Peterman play at Bartram?

I like Peterman as well as any QB in this subpar draft class, but I believe he may go higher than we expect. I see him possibly going as high as the 3rd round.

I'm down taking a QB there.

We have needs sure, and I do believe in Blake, but I want to draft a decent backup with potential in mid rounds.

Mike Kaye in his 12 players to watch at senior bowl article included him and wrote this:

Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh

(6-2, 225 lbs.)

The Bartram Trail graduate originally played for Tennessee but transferred after a three-year stint with the Vols. He ended up at Pittsburgh where he started for two seasons at quarterback. He completed more than 60-percent of his passes for 5,142 passing yards, 47 passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions during his final two years in college. He was only sacked 10 times as a senior, despite starting every game for the Panthers this past season. His mobility and quick release should stick out to teams in Mobile.

He may be a quarterback option for the Jaguars on Day 2 or Day 3.

Didn't even know who he was until this thread was brought up. I took a look at his play vs VT and...wow. Love his footwork and quick throws.

The depth after the top 4 guys is pretty bad though in my opinion. Nobody reaaly stands out.

Personally, I'd much prefer to take a QB more in the 5-7 round range of the draft, depending on what we do in free agency. I just want to make sure we address OG, RT, RB, SS, DE and CB before we address the QB situation. I just don't see any QB in this draft worth drafting ahead of players at the positions I mentioned. I just don't see a whole lot of difference between the QB's in the 5-7 round range and the QB's who will be taken in the 2-4 round range. This is such a weak QB class, I'd much rather wait until 2018 to address the position (if Blake doesn't turn things around.)
