Eddie Jackson in the middle rounds?
|
I recently watched some highlights on Jackson from Alabama and he was impressive. 9 career interceptions and he started out playing corner and then moved over to strong safety.
Watch his highlights. This guy can play. He comes in at 6 foot and 194 pounds. He can hit and he can make plays on the ball. Comparing him to Cyp, they are 2 different players. Cyp has terrible ball skills. They tackle about the same. However, Jackson's weakness his single high. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He was a first rounder before the broken leg, which isn't going to be a long term deal. The mocks where I'm seeing him going in the third round seem to weigh that far too heavily. I expect he'll wind up going top 50. Wouldn't be upset at all if it is by us at 36 if we don't go Adams/Hooker in the first.
My guy at safety is Xavier Woods- Louisiana Tech.
Kind of like Eddie Jackson in that he started off as a corner. 2016: 81 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 6 passes broke up, 5 interceptions 2015: 56 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 3 passes broken up, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles 2014: 71 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, 7 passes broken up, 6 interceptions Always around the ball and he's able to lay the wood to.
I really like Jackson a lot which is one reason why I am so against taking a Safety at #4. I believe Jackson would be a fantastic pick in round 2. I also wouldn't mind signing a FA like Tony Jefferson. He had a fantastic season.

Quote:My guy at safety is Xavier Woods- Louisiana Tech. Woods is a guy that is going overlooked right now, but he is gonna make some team very happy in the late rounds. The only knock on him is that he's under 6' tall. He really doesn't have any holes in his game though.

Can do it all Quote:I really like Jackson a lot which is one reason why I am so against taking a Safety at #4. I believe Jackson would be a fantastic pick in round 2. I am so against taking a RB at 4 because one of Foreman, McCaffrey, or Kamara would be fantastic picks in round 2 etc. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I am not a fan at all of McCaffrey and although Kamara is gaining steam, his resume is just too small for me to get a gauge on whether he is an every down back in the NFL. I am way more partial to Foreman, Fournette, Perine and possibly even Marlon Mack and Elijah Hood. Quote:Foreman would, but I have him going to the Raiders in round 1. Quote:Jamaal Williams from BYU and Joe Williams for Utah look good. Jamaal Williams is intriguing. I almost added him to my list and I still might. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does this weekend. I'm not as high on Joe Williams. He didn't really impress me during the East/West Shrine game. He's too streaky for my liking. He'll make a nice run and then turn around and get caught behind the line of scrimmage on the next play. Quote:Jamaal Williams is intriguing. I almost added him to my list and I still might. Dead right about Joe. His burst is insane but lacks vision/patience. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I am so against taking a RB at 4 because one of Foreman, McCaffrey, or Kamara would be fantastic picks in round 2 etc. But 31 other teams are picking. It doesn't mean those guys will be there when we pick. You got to take your number 1 guy each pick. We probably will take a RB at number 4. The same can be said about every position. Don't take this guy bc this this and this guy could be had in whatever round.
Quote:But 31 other teams are picking. It doesn't mean those guys will be there when we pick. You got to take your number 1 guy each pick. The thing is, if your #1 guy on the board is very close to a similar player/players who are projected to go later, it would be much smarter in my eyes to trade down and add more picks. In my opinion, I see no standout "can't miss" players in this draft. I see a lot of really good players who can help us at a variety of positions, but none that are "must haves", especially with the #4 overall pick. I think it would be such a waste if we used the #4 pick on a guy when we could possibly trade down, add picks to fill more needs and select very similar players to what we could have gotten at #4.
Quote:The thing is, if your #1 guy on the board is very close to a similar player/players who are projected to go later, it would be much smarter in my eyes to trade down and add more picks. But again if you trade too far down, those evenly matched players could be gone by the time we pick again. Just sit and pick. It's a crap shoot anyway.
Quote:But again if you trade too far down, those evenly matched players could be gone by the time we pick again. That's why you have to be smart about it. If you know the guy you are likely to select at #4 is very similar to a player that could go anywhere from the #13 to #20 range, you can't just trade down to #26 and expect him to be there. You have to be selective with the trade offers you accept. Me personally, I don't see all that much separating Jamal Adams from Eddie Jackson. You should probably be able to get Jackson with our #35 overall selection. I also have similar grades on RB's Fournette, Foreman and Perine. In fact, I have Foreman as my #1 RB. We could probably still draft Fournette if we traded down no further than #7. We could probably select Foreman by trading down as far as #20 and Perine is probably going to be selected anywhere from the mid 2nd to late 3rd round. Interior offensive linemen on the other hand are not all created equal. I have Feeney, Lamp, Elflein and Pocic pretty much head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the class. They are all likely to be gone by the middle of the 2nd round though. We are in desperate need of help at the OG spot, so if we could trade down and somehow pick up a late 1st or high 2nd round pick, we could address this critical position with a day 1 starter.
