Josh Allen, QB Wyoming
|
He is currently one of the two non 1st round developmental QBs I would be happy with (Mahomes being the other), and his bowl game starts momentarily on ESPN.
Of course this is if he declares for the draft. Hopefully he puts on a show. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I am DVRing it since I have a busy night, but it sounds like it's such a monsoon that there is nothing worth evaluating anyway. That sucks.
I know stats dont mean everything and I havent watched him play much but his stats are pretty rough. Played 1 real team and threw 5 pics and had a lot of mediocre days. I get the love for the 6'5 235 mobile guys but really guy has to play better in college than what he is doing. Also has the same poor footwork Bortles does. Hes open almost every throw.

If that package is being taken in the 2nd or 3rd round and gets to sit a full year or two I think it is a worthy investment. Hence the developmental part of what I was saying about he and Mahomes.
He won't declare. There's a lot of room for improvement and raising his profile.
7 MWC QBs have a better completion % than Josh Allen and 4 have a better TD/INT ratio. His games are pretty bad.

Stats don't tell you the entire story(Unless you were one of few that paid attention to Wyoming Cowboys Football). He also runs a pro-style offense which gives him a leg up. No doubt he has stuff to work on though. Right now he's just one of a few guys worth keeping an eye on to see if he makes that step up next year or not. Just a guy who looks like how stereotypical QB is meant to look with a strong arm. The stats back that up.
This guy reminds me of Bortles. Like, he's literally a skinnier version of Bortles with maybe a little stronger arm. Not saying he can't improve more than Bortles has and be the QB we were hoping Bortles was but I'm good on this type of player right now. I need something different in my life. I'd rather not drop Blake Bortles next year just to draft the northern version of Blake Bortles.

That said, I am certain a team will be stupid enough to draft him in the top 3 next year if he just puts up halfway decent numbers. Hopefully it won't be us again.

We'll end up with Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen in next year's draft if Bortles flops again.

Quote:Do developmental QBs ever work out? Tom Brady was brought into New England as a developmental QB. He was not highly rated coming out of college at all and almost everyone viewed him as a lifetime backup at best. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
