What do you guys think of Myles Garrett?
|
Just curious, many posters on here have some really good break downs on players and I would like to hear what you guys think of Myles Garrett? He has been deemed the consensus #1 overall prospect and #1 pick by a large margin. Personally, I haven't watched him live so I don't really have an opinion on him. Pass rusher has been such a problem for this team since the Bracken days, would Myles be worth a trade up? I don't buy into the comparison stuff as most others do, but I read his comparison was Julius Peppers. Is he really that type of projectable player? It would be pretty intriguing to move up to get this guy if he really projects to a Peppers type, and more so if a quarterback is taken at #1 and even more if qbs go 1 and 2. Thoughts on Garrett? Thoughts on moving up?

Word is Cleveland might pass on him at 1 for a QB. I would 100% support trading up to two in order to grab Garrett. He good.
Depends what it'd cost to move up to #2. I don't think he's worth giving up the farm on, but he'd be our best edge rusher most likely.

Thoughts on moving up? Definitely depends what it would cost but in terms of the comparison, Garrett isn't as athletic as peppers is/was but similar style. Garrett has strong legs and a strong core which gives him a power advantage. He is strong, athletic, good motor (which some were questioning but it sounds like he was pretty banged up all season which would account for those plays where it looked like he wasnt going 100%) clearly if that is the case he is also a tough kid. seems like the overall package, but does need to refine his technique.....the spin move is there and its pretty deadly, but he could definitely expand his arsenal. i really like him and think he is going to be a really good pro.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
There's also a very good possibility a QB goes at 2 or 3 as well. Though highly, highly unlikely at both.
We may have to only worry about one team taking him ahead of us
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

If I was the Browns, I would reject all trade offers. Remember the backlash after they gave up their golden opportunity to pick a franchise QB last year?
If I was the Jaguars, I would stay at #4 no matter who the Browns, 49ers, and Bears indicate they want.

If the best option is a trade take it. Quote:Word is Cleveland might pass on him at 1 for a QB. I would 100% support trading up to two in order to grab Garrett. He good.No doubt he is the consensus number 1 player in this draft and he plays a premium position which could put the Jaguars defense over the top. The only hesitancy is there are no guarantees- even with a top 2 pick. Also, the Jaguars have not had the best track record taking pass rushers high in the draft; i.e. Harvey, Alualu and even Branch in the 2nd. That being said, they have to trust their pre-draft analysis and if he checks all the boxes you try to move up and take him. I wonder what it would take to accomplish this. To move up 2 spots that high in the draft they may have to part with their 2nd rounder. Although this would hurt, I'd still do it. If it only took a 3rd rounder, that would be a no-brainer. Is the value gap between 4 and 2 only a 2nd or 3rd rounder plus the #4? I honestly thought it would take like 2 second rounders min. Nfl draft slots have a weird value scale. I have no idea how they come up with it.

Of course part of it is what the teams need, not just who they think is the most talented player. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Every year the Browns trade down, trade down, trade down, not caring if they miss out on all of the elite players. They know reaching for need is not smart, but failing to keep their original pick numbers is a big reason they suck. Not all teams need to stay where they are, but if the Browns did, it would not take 16 weeks to win a game.

Theyve had opportunities to draft blue chip talent even after trading down, their talent evaluation is just poor.

It would not be so bad if the Browns traded down once but even all of the blue-chip players are gone by the time they finally make their picks.
Tennessee traded out of there pick last year, look at the ransom they got. They're still an above averge team

Odell beckham, Aaron Donald, Taylor Lewan, Teddyy Bridgewater, Anthony Barr etc were all available, go take a look. They could have taken two blue chip players and still got derek carr in the second but they drafted Justin Gilbert and Manziel. In 2015 they picked 12th and 19th. They used the 12th pick on Danny shelton whos a solid player, and used the 19th pick on Cam Erving(who is horrendous) with Bud Dupree, Shane Ray, Byron Jones, and Landon collins available. They havent been out of range of top tier talent, theyre just drafting bad players instead. Its not the trades, its the talent evaluation.

They're still an above averge team The Titans could afford to give up their top pick because they had a second-year franchise QB. The Browns passed on a golden opportunity to get . . . a franchise QB. Also keep in mind how far up the Rams had to go. There is no reason to give up the farm to move up three spots. Look at how that turned out for the Redskins when they moved from 6 to 2 for a QB.
On topic, why aren't people talking about how tough Myles Garrett is? All I read about is he was limited to 8.5 sacks because of his ankle injury. Well, I saw him get hurt and heard Holly Rowe talk about it during the timeout. She said the team medical personnel were worried he broke his ankle before letting him get up. He barely put any weight on it while being helped off. One drive later, he was back on the field. You never would have known he was injured in the same game.
