Trump’s Immigration Muslim Ban Excludes Countries With Business Ties

Quote:If there is a Muslim ban.... why not ban India? One of the largest Muslim populations in the world?

I wonder....

Are people really so obtuse they don't get it.... this is a temporary stoppage on new visas from particular nations overrun with ISIS.

Also.. Obama halted for 6 months immigration from Iraq for similar reasons.

Also Obama made this list of countries.

stop your whining and hand wringing over every thing this man does and let this country get better.

Jesus... the last 8 years have been awful enough just being Jaguar fans....

If every Muslim on earth resides in the 7 countries listed on the travel ban, then YES, it is a Muslim ban.

Except Obama didn't detain legal permanent residents.

One has to at least be curious as to the nature of travel for some that are here in the US based on asylum and go back to these same areas to visit. Why is it ok for a legal permanent resident to also go and come back from these areas that others are claiming is too dangerous to live? With or without this newer immigration EO, that seem like flags to me.

Agreed, and it shouldn't be. Green card holders should also be extensively vetted when returning from these nations. I also wouldn't object to citizens who visit these specific nations who aren't sponsored by a business to get extensive vetting when returning.

They are most likely already put on some sort of watchlist by FBI or CIA, anyway. At least I believe the San Bernadino husband was.

I'm sure, I struggle with the idea that the government has a right to know where you as a citizen are traveling and why.

Customs already flags you before and upon entry. If you aren't tied to official government travel, expect the strong possibility of legal harassment.

Even scarier is that anytime you travel on a passport, customs has the right to search all your electronic devices and communications within them.

"Give us the password citizen" will be the new "Your papers", 4th Amendment be damned.

They use your login credentials, legally. They don't even need probable cause. If you refuse they will confiscate and there is a strong possibility you aren't getting back. It's crazy.

They can't legally compel anyone to provide passwords (yet), though I do suppose they could confiscate your electronic device.

Good thing I am not traveling to Pakistan for leisure anytime soon.

Oh.... did Trump?

Must have missed the part where American citizens were being detained.

Cuz I know plenty of illegals who are "permanent residents".

I agree with this exec. order...

but it's already a slippery slope before you tell American citizens "hey if you travel, expect Hell to get back in"

However... to the point you are making, I think, why would Joe America want to go travel to Iraq, Syria, or Yemen.......

if you want to be around all that right now, it certainly would raise some questions.

Now a lot of American citizens are Muslim and many want to travel back home to visit family or the Mecca or whatever... so this is why we couldn't do that. Then essentially you are ACTUALLY targeting Muslims, rather than the radical countries we've targeted now.

I mean.... you ever heard of this guy named Snowden? An agency called the NSA?

The Patriot Act?

PRISM?

You got a smart phone? They can get it.

You driving down the street? They can see you.

Your information is no longer safe... unless you keep it off the phone, cpu, etc.

They'll tell you you can block this or do that...take out your battery, turn off GPS....

but once it's electronic it is never safe and never gone.

Unless you guys get some of that bleachbit that worked so well for Killary  :teehee:  :woot:

By the very nature of the DHS and border security, people from every category have been detained on a daily basis. This is not new. And guess what, people have been barred from entry on a permanent and temporary basis as well and once again, just about daily. In fact, in FY2016 over 800,000 were inadmissible or deported. Actual border arrest were over 400,000. Pretty sure there was a lot of detainment going on!

Actually you'll end up in a county lock up indefinitely on a Contempt charge until you comply.
