There is absolutely no game.  I'm just trying to get a straight answer as to why age is an issue with Sullivan yet somehow Coughlin is the saviour.  And your basic answer is 'because Coughlin fired him.'.  Sorry, that's not an answer to the question.

Age? Really? That is what this about?


No man. While it contributes to it. It is more of set on ways than age.


And if ya look back I said tom. Would not be a coach because of the way the game changed.


Had nothing to do with his routine or rules.


You would think that a great receiver coach. Would tell his guy dont look like fools or start drama with media or blame fans.


Ya would think. The receivers would only get better and not regress. Once again not the case.


You would think. The receivers get new tips on how to beat mismatches and be better play makers. Seams like not the case.


The game has changed and what worked last year or five years ago wont now. Cause the way defenses adapt and adjust.


And the final nail in coffin. Tom let him go. Knowing the old school ways for coaching. Are not relevent today.


And for one. Keenan kept Jimmy in check when both were team mates.


Two. Being a receiver himself. He understands the in game element more.


Three knows how to make better cuts and run more precise routes.


And how to translate or relay info for todays game.


But after all of this. Still will hear. A bunch of trash. None of these facts ya can debate.


But go ahead and take more shots. And sugar coat it to mean something else.

I'm not sure what your point is regarding "short term remedies."

 

The NFL, by its very nature, is a short term business for players and coaches.

 

If you want to see Sullivan's results over a longer period, he was WRs coach at Detroit from 97-99.  There he coached Herman Moore, Johnnie Morton, and Germane Crowell to 1000 yard seasons.

 

He was WRs coach in Arizona for a couple of years, and he coached David Boston to 1000 yard seasons.  He was OC in Az for a year after that, and coached Anquan Boldin to a great rookie year.

 

Larry Fitzgerald lauds him.

 

He was a WRs coach in Miami, where he coached Chris Chambers to an 82 catch, 1100+ yard season in 2005.

 

Even if you looked at Sullivan from a long term prospective,  receivers have been productive under him, including the ones on our roster now.
