I was hoping to draw some interest in what other teams will do before and after we are on the clock. The draft is not just about us.
Quote:I think the Jets and Panthers will look hard at both Fournette and CookAgree, Jets will look hard at QB as well
Quote:Agree, Jets will look hard at QB as well More likely in the second round based on mixed opinions about the leading QB prospects. In the first round they definitely should look at the RBs. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
For the Jags so much depends on if they keep Cyp or not. If not, I feel Adams has to be the pick both for his talent as well as necessity.
Carolina may well be willing to move up for Fournette. But that's very risky for the Jags if they were to move down to #8. The Panthers take Fournette, the Titans take Adams, and the Jets take Cook leaving the Jags w/o any of their top choices. Looking forward to seeing Solomon Thomas at the combine

But does Carolina want to pick a RB in the first round? I don't understand the "depends on Cyprien" posts. He needs a backup. That is the issue, backup SS. Quote:I would be surprised if Cook is not available at #8. But does Carolina want to pick a RB in the first round?Cyp is an UFA If the team doesn't re-sign him they will need a starting SS
Quote:Cyp is an UFA. If we do let Cyprien walk, drafting a SS would be a good idea - but not at #4. Who would be a good trade partner? We show less advertisements to registered users. If the team wants him it would almost have to be with the 4th. Guessing if the Jags don't take him the Titans do. Trade downs? Your guess is as good as anyone's

Tom Coughlin knows reaching for need with a top 5 pick is never smart. He knows how the value system for draft boards works. Without a trade down, picking a safety in the first round would make no sense for any reason.

Quote:its not reaching for need when he is the best player on the board and we haven't had an elite or even good SS since DD It will be interesting to see how the combine changes draft stocks for players at positions we need. Until every mock draft has a safety in the top 5, I will assume anyone at that position is a big reach at #4. So the question is who would you want to trade with? A qb will be taken top 10 always does.

Quote:I think the Jets and Panthers will look hard at both Fournette and Cook I don't think so. The Jets have huge needs at QB and CB. They don't have a valid starting QB on the roster and Revis was beaten like a drum last year and will likely either move to Safety or be cut. Forte was not bad at all at RB. On top of that, they will probably need to look at a OT as well since Ryan Clady might not be back. As for the Panthers, I can't see them passing on a premier OT. This is a very weak OT class and there are like 3 guys who could start right away before the class drops off a cliff. I think they look hard at Ryan Ramczyk, who would be a perfect fit. Cam Newton was harassed all year by opposing D-Linemen. They also might look at a shutdown corner. Their secondary was atrocious in 2016. They couldn't stop anybody. I don't see them looking at a RB until the 3rd round at the earliest.

I don't see them looking at a RB until the 3rd round at the earliest. You answered my question about trade partners. The Panthers are a team to watch for Cam Robinson, who is unlikely to be available at #8. The Jets said they will cut some big-name players, but did not name Ryan Clady specifically. I would expect them to only keep Darrelle Revis if he moves to safety. RB can (and should) be addressed by both teams in later rounds because they have depth issues at the position.
Quote:A QB will be taken top 10 always does. Maybe not. There are no QBs in this draft worth picking that high, according to Mike Mayock. It is mathematically possible a playoff team is the first to pick a QB (however unlikely that may be). We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
