3rd overall pick

Quote:Or Mariota declares . . . or the Texans find a free agent quarterback . . . or Bridgewater decides to stay in school . . . You never know. We are only speculating at this point.

Mariota isn't that good.

Quote:No.

Bridgewater is going 1st, regardless. The only way Houston don't take him is if another team trades them a sweetheart deal to trade down.

Though I think that's a cop out because your premise indicates Houston tanked for the sole purpose of drafting Bridgewater, fine.

If Houston chooses number one without making a trade, and it's not Bridgewater, then you should have no problem agreeing to be quiet for a week.

If you're not willing to agree, perhaps you're not as confident in this whole tanktanktank nonsense as you suggest.

On Wisconsin.

Yeah, it was probably Kubiak that wanted him..... Laughing

I am of the overwhelming opinion that Teddy will go to Houston, but lets face it, every team has a price.

If another team was crazy enough to offer the Texans 5 first rounders and 5 second rounders  in exchange for the top pick, they'd take it, I don't care how much they were tanking for Teddy. Thats all I am saying.

Quote:I would take Bridgewater, but no one knows who Houston would take if Mariota declared. This is a blurb from rotoworld

<div>Lance Zierlein of Sports Talk 790 in Houston believes Oregon redshirt sophomore QB Marcus Mariota would have been the favorite for the Houston Texans at pick No. 1.
Obviously Mariota will not be entering the draft, but it is a noteworthy statement nonetheless. Teddy Bridgewater and Mariota don't have very many similarities, with the former spending plenty of time under center and displaying great eye level and pocket movement. Mariota is more impressive in the pocket than given credit for, but he has more ball carrying experience and was asked to make quicker reads. Dec 19 - 11:20 AM

Louisville and Oregon have different systems. How can people compare them when they run different offenses? Also how can anybody say who would be a better fit on a team without a head coach?

See, I thought about offering to shut myself up for a week, too, but I do think the Texans will pick Bridgewater as well. I'm just not of the opinion that they tanked for him like you are.

I don't think the Texans set out to do that from game 1 (Like the Colts (Irsay) did in 2011), but once the Texans season was already in the crapper (by around mid-season or so) I think they (or McNair specifically) decided to at that point Tank for Teddy.

The funny thing is Clowney (if he keeps consistent with his committment issues) might indeed have a chance of being a bust. While yeah, its probably just coincidence, I do think there is at least some kind of intangible regarding players names and success, ha ha.

Blake Bortles actually doesn't sound bad for a QB.

Some like Barr, I am unsure about.

We made him give a list for last draft, too, but I think it was lost in the old forums. I wish it could be retrieved, though. I've never heard of a more ridiculous notion.

Why would he care, if he was being paid off to shut his mout and just lose? Maybe part of the cover up?

Actually there have been studies on the very subject by people with masters & doctorates, dolt. So, while you may think its dumb, people a heckuva lot smarter than you or even me have indeed thought enough of the concept to try and find any correlation.

I personally don't think its more than an intangible. Talent, brains and work ethic will decide.

Oh my god, "Clowney has a chance to be a bust" so does everyone else.

What TMD is doing, folks, is hedging his bets.  He's good at it.  He's even done it with Bridgewater, citing his smallish "frame" as one potential reason for him to fail.

He does it so 2 years from now he can start a thread and say "I told you so"

No, he asked me a question. I guess you cannot read. I ve now stated like 2 times in the last 30 minutes that I believe its nothing more than an intangible quality.

When is the last time I started a thread saying I told you so, or had that theme?

Yeah, I'm calling you out on it.

I don't feel like looking for one.

I've been on this board for like 13 years and there are too many to count.

Your themes are always the same, I don't need to remind you or anyone else about what you do.
