Bridgewater and Clowney are gone, who do you take?

I'd take Mack. Feel he's the much better player than Barr. TB's the only QB I'd have a high 1st-round grade on.
Mack is a little more polished, but Barr has incredible upside. I'd take Barr or Manziel.

Mack is the overall better player. Barr knows little about the position and when he gets blocked, he stays blocked more often than not. We already have one guy that's like that in Branch and he's just now starting to flash a bit.
Based on the prospects I've seen (Not Mack unfortunately)
I like Barr or Bortles. Barr looks like such a perfect fit for us at Leo, it just sees meant to be. Bortles seems like that gritty/ clutch/ do all pocket passer that will probably fall this year, and make people regret passing on him. Not a fan of Carr, but if we pick him I won't be excited or angry. He looks like the biggest project this year not named Manziel. Quote:Based on the prospects I've seen (Not Mack unfortunately) If he comes out, I think Bortles' stock is going to rise tremendously leading up to the draft -- especially if he has a great bowl performance. He may be the biggest riser in the draft come May.
Although the perceived ranking of top 10 prospects will change considerably leading up to the draft, if Bridgewater and Clowney are gone, I would be an advocate for a trade down if possible. Then, pick up the next best ranked QB, whoever that will be at the time on Dave's board. With the team going into year 2 of a rebuilding mode, getting the QB to develop now is a very high priority.

As you said, maybe he'd fit our scheme better anyways. I'm tempted by Barr's potential...and on paper he seems like a great fit at LEO. There's really no one that I'm really high on at #3...which is why I'm still hoping Teddy/Clowney falls to us. Quote:Mack is the overall better player. The counter-argument to that is that this coaching staff seems to finally getting through to Branch...so taking another player just as raw (but with higher upside) might be OK if you believe Gus can develop Barr.
Actually, I'm changing my mind on Barr. While people compare him to Von Miller and he kind of has that lanky Dion Jordan build, he seems to get bullied a lot. If he puts on weight to counteract that, he could lose his speed, which is what his the reason he's able to be successful right now.
I think I'm leaning towards Mack. He has a quick first step and a really sweet inside move, but seems to have power as well. He wouldn't need to put on any weight and may be successful fairly quickly. He also does well vs. the run.

Quote:I'm thinking Sammy WatkinsThe WR class is too deep to draft one at #3
Disagree superman, Watkins has a Julio Jones/AJ Green type talent...I don't think too many guys in this class have Watkins type talent...its not a need but with the Blackmon problem Watkins could work...If Blackmon would grow up him, Watkins and Shorts would be pretty freaking awesome...throw in Ace and its one of the best we have ever had (on paper)....

I never said he wasn't, but he isn't that much better than Watkins just bigger and apparently less mature...I would imagine we would trade back if we were thinking about taking Watkins but I honestly don't think we are...Bortles, Clowney, Teddy, Manziel, Hundley and maybe Barr are the only ones that I could see us taking at 3...If Mack blows people away like Ansah did then he might be our pick regardless of those listed...I just don't think we are set on a QB in rd 1...

Umm, just FYI...Watkins is a WAAAAAY better prospect than Blackmon was. It's not even close.
Quote:Umm, just FYI...Watkins is a WAAAAAY better prospect than Blackmon was. It's not even close. Yeah, whatver..... Everybody can constantly diminish the level of prospect that Blackmon was coming into the league all you want. When Blackmon got into the NFL he flat out was/ is a big play producer/ a game changer. Just like he was in college. People constantly underrate Blackmon for whatever reason. |
